hey sd, if you read my post I am quite humbled by this coast line, there is no attempt to macho myself about it, I am average compared to the guys who really take off deep and match it. The fact is that it is serious business, I didn't make the coast and there are thousands of kms of it.support denmark wrote:O.K., If you live where Dazza lives, in the macho man surf capital of the world where every spot is lined with cliffs made of razor blades and great whites eat lost boards and blah, blah, blah. Then you can wear a leash. But for normal surf areas like Hawaii, East coast Oz, most of the pacific, America, half of indo, basically anywhere that is crowded and not so dramatic, leashes are just a fucking curse that allow too many Guys to get in the way. Great to hear all about how rad and gnarly you are and even greater to hear that when you kite, you suddenly become so bad-ass that the conditions that make the best surfers in Australia cry for their leashes don't affect you. I guess you never lose your board. Seems like a bit of a contradiction. Which way is it? Just curious.
My only claim to skill is perhaps having the passion to want to surf these babies and be in Gods own ocean.
And by the way I don't kite these waves, I'm not insane. plenty of milder places to kite.
btw I don't recall seeing anyone at Ulu or Shipwrecks or Noosa Dua without a leash, I sure as blazes had one. (mind you I didn't surf it that well) I don't know what they boys on the North Shore would say about it either, they seem to wear them too, never been there but.
But I have to say I still don't agree with you, leashes on kites especially are critical and our local rules are you will use them, depowering kite release safety.
no offence sd but I think if I said black was black you might say its blue. am I right?? I like a man who can have an argument. Anyhow don't egg me on or we will drag this thread out, you're entitiled to your opinion bro.
sorry to be off the topic everyone
