evan when you say this thing splits in two pieces for servicing does this mean the outer shell and an internal fleece? OR is the outerlayer made of two pieces ( as in bag suit covered by lycra outerlayer to crush it down)worn over internal fleece. And its .5mm is it neoprene?, a stretchable breathable GOREtex kind of thing>??? I know what lycra is but whats the rest?

Great thread so far! I thought I would jump in where Evan left off and answer some questions for all of you.
The Pyro Surf suit will be officially launched this month, after its soft launch at Surf Expo in the fall. We already have many sample suits on order with key accounts in the US, Canada, the UK, Sweden, France, Ireland, Scotland...you get the idea - real world cold water surfing countries. These sample suits will come in size Large / X-Large to start with the full size run available in the late spring.
This suit has been in the test bin for over a year and a half, exposed to the harshest conditions that the wild west coast of Canada, and Vancouver Island in particular, can throw at it and it has performed and stood up to the conditions beautifully. What is more, we already have some very exciting names in the sport using and testing the suit for us and we look forward to continuing to work with them to develop the best suit possible for cold water surfing!
Now, details:
- Split Skin Technology is at the heart of this suit's design. This patented technology allows the suit to have a bone dry inner bladder that is both highly flexible and durable while being incredibly thin. The outer layer is a very durable lycra layer. This is not your wife's yoga gear. The Lycra layer we use is specially designed to avoid “pillingâ€Â

'forgot to say that I only use this drysuit for kitesurfing.

Re: oceanrodeo surf drysuit
It depends on what you are going to use the suit for. If you are going to both surf and kite, then the Pyro Surf is the only way to go. It's a great crossover suit, and depending on how you layer, will cover the range of a 3mm to 6mm wetsuit. If you are never going to surf, then I recommend going with the Pyro Pro, Classic, or Lite, simply because you can choose to wear whatever you like underneath them. Some riders jump out of the car and pull them over their street clothes, while others wear technical garments.
