Naish alien 121 (most used)
Jimmy L the myth (101) Super fun but not for every day
North phantom 155 (technically my gfriend's, but good for light wind)

Hey anyone riding bigger aliens? How are they in waves and in general?
Thanks

5 that I currently keep in the car, a couple more that I don't use.

Rogue Wave custom skim board with multiple fin options (I love this board)
07 Shinn (most used but may be updated soon)
Jimmy Lewis Charger (awesome high wind, overpowered board)
SS Glide (I live in a light wind area)
Jimmy Lewis 5"10" surfboard

I typically carry 4 of my 5 kites as well, so am prepared for just about any conditions.

Got a load of kiting boards........

However the two boards I ride all the time are Ultra light hollow carbon fiber surfboards by Aviso.

I have two:

Lost 6'6" three fin

Dick Van Straalen's Rasta Fish two fin. 5'10"

I ride the 5'10 strapless and in low wind.
I ride the 6'6" Lost in low wind and everything else. Still my board of choice even if it's blowing35mph+. It feels way smaller.

Both have amazing flex pattern. Very ridgid rails, but loads of hull flex..... and some deck flex....
It's like having suspension... super smooth ride, but without the inefficiency for tip to tail flex of twin tips.
Best of all you can TUNE THE BOARDS FOR MORE OR LESS CONCAVE IN THE HULL.
More concave for regular riding, not concave for lose downwinders.

Problem is these boards are pricy.... about $ 1,300 new... around 800 used.
However they are really strong and super durable.

My other fsavorite is the Spleene Zone a 174cm directional built with the same technology as the Spleene twin tips. Super thin, great flex. It's my board of choice when I want to ride very powered up.

Cheers

Fred

3 boards and looking to get a 4th.

132x39 TT for allround fun.
135x48 TT for light wind. It rips in light wind, goes upwind like a yacht and is still ok in stronger wind.
5'11" Strapped surfboard for strong winds with waves or the surf.

Looking to get a fish or something similar to surf and ride strapless with a kite.

Windrider wrote:I have 4 but 2 are old (talking circa 2001) and never used. My 2 normal use boards:

LF Drop Ltd. 138
Naish Sky Pirate 7 foot (probably circa 2001, too, but still worth using!)
Funny, that was before I bought my Cabrinha 6'1" directional in August of 2007. So, now I've been using three boards. I made the 7' Sky Pirate a semi-nude board by removing the back foot strap. I left the front footstraps on to help in re-launching in deep water. Might make it a full nude at some time in the future.... do ya think it will be ineligible for beauty contests after that?

Two years have passed since my last comment on this post...
Things changed again :)

I quit freestyle stuff and now my gear is all wave oriented
Kites:
- Eclipse Kima 4m, 6m, 9m
Boards:
- Surf Board 5"8 Custom Quad (Terlica/Lxkite) - Small waves and speed
- Surf Board 5"8 Custom Trifin (SPO) - Big waves and/or strong wind
- Surf Board 6"1 Custom Trifin Strapless - Small waves, light wind

I never use my twintip now... Even without waves i go out with the strapless surfboard to pratice some new tricks :)

started off with one board, but it just wasn't enough:

'07 LF recoil 130x39
Cabal skimboard
wakeskate
+
snowboard for snowkiting of course

next board is something stiff and freestyle oriented and a wake style board with bindings too (my recoil is way too small) and i want a small <6' fun waveboard for mushy onshore stuff and prolly a full sized 6' or 6'2" for surfing/kiting decent waves. Then of course a raceboard would be sweet too.

too many options

Three boards current:

2007 RRD Pro Model 130 x 40
2008 Caution Trespass 6.0
2008 Victoria Skim XL

Wouldn't change any of them. However would add a race if we could organize some good course racing around here...

I used to have to bring 2 or three boards to the beach . :redcard:
Most surfboards just don't like flying, they tend to break after a few good landings. :duh:
Now I just bring 1... :thumb:
A 6'4" Tokoro pin tail. Sick shape & uniquely insane construction. :cool2:
The board is strong & rides all day long. :coolshades:

Aloha, Ride Safe, Have Fun... :hut:
