While I was messing around with my new LF M80 5 line bar, I was testing the releases, pulled the chicken loop QR and now am not sure how to reassemble it. I'm used to the north and naish bars without the pins and rope. Can't find a user manual, anyone help me out?

viento,

I have been a past owner of the M80. I like the kite as it is great for unhooked stuff. But the CLQR is the worst I have ever seen for reassembly. Period. Even the LF distributor (who I won't name to protect the innocent) admits it's a shocker. He also couldn't give me a user manual either because LF didn't make one for the M80.

You cannot reassemble this without a small flat head screw driver and it takes a good 5 minutes to do it. Not a hell of a lot of good if you're out on the water eh?

If your distributor can't help you then my suggestion is that you write to liquid force.

However as a quick help

The small loop at the end of the chicken loop (a piece of rope encased in plastic) must be fed through the slightly larger rope loop that is fixed to top of the CL part of the chicken loop. This requires putting the flat head screw driver through the larger loop into the centre of the plastic loop to lever it through as the fit is sooooo tight. Once you have got the loop through and have finished sweating and cursing the fuckwit who came up with this system simply slide the pin through the plastic coated loop end poking out of the top of the larger loop. Don't forget to make sure it carries on through to sleeve which holds the end of the pin in place.

I defy LF to tell anyone this is any good. Good job for them that their 07 bars are absolutely first class and as different from the M80 bar as chalk and cheese.

Hey, thanks for your help, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's garbage. Sucks too bc I like the set up of short and wide, so easy to unhook with removable donkey d%&$ as well, yah well, I'll prob just switch it out, I don't want to hesitate pulling the QR because at the back of my mind I'll know I have to go into the beach unhooked the whole way and get a screwdriver... any ideas of a good CL to switch it out for?

you can go back to the beach. you can hook into the bridge where the donkey dick is velcroed to. but i know the old chickenloop quickrelease was not most conveniant one ;-)

check out the mig bar for the m80! that is one of the cleanest bar on the market right now...
