Haha, those lines are probably 200ft....:) Nothing beats my Caution 20 in lightwind, and I would know :)

Actually after watching the video - the rider doesn't stay upwind at all.

Rider and kite start along the beach and upwind of where he comes ashore. definitely not holding ground!!!

Would be a walk back along the beach to where they started..........

First of all I'm talking about balance of different parameters in light wind, not best performances in light wind. A flat bow kite of the same size for sure is more powerfull, but not enoght speed to do tricks with kiteloops.

The first video was a test with 46m lines and very low wind 6 knots average and of course no upwind. In the second video the wind was 10 knots average and we noticed that SONIC 17 could perform better of 17m foil kites (again in , the rider was able to do any trick (there is no kiteloop in the video but he did some).

Anyway the SLE kites are great also in big sizes.

"17m foilkite" <--- Maybe you could be a bit more specific?
Brand? Type?
Rider-weight? Board?

BTW, my Speed2 15 makes kiteloops just fine in light wind. 8)

Oh well, the Sonic is probably a great kite... but I'm quite willing to bet that it isn't "unbeatable" in light wind. So maybe you should have chosen another subject-line for this post?

just do it

Good question... one of our local shops is bringing a 19m SA2 in so we can test it, I'll let you know what I think, at this point my opinion is that it is not worth the money for a new SA2, however for the normal fabric maybe, or a second hand SA2 maybe for a second hand normal fabric for sure! Lots of people must disagree with me because there is currently quite a demand for the SA2(6-8 weeks lead).

The 17m GK in the video does not impress either, I don't believe you can do a proper kiteloop on any kite in those conditions you will land long before the kite has even completed 50% of the loop, the guy does not look very big 70kg or less is my guess? I think you can do much better with a 15m Speed2 even with normal fabric.

Is that a production kite or still proto? Maybe they are still tuning it a bit?

Is it a light wind spot because there seems to be quite a lot of kites out on the water for such conditions, I suspect the wind probably more 12 than 8kts
