Post subject:  I saw Bruno's Ultra Flat Kite!

I recently went to Las Terrenas in the Dominican Republic for the Pura Vida Fun Tour (news and video coming soon).

Here I met Bruno Legaignoux, the developer of the tube and bow kites.
We had an interesting talk and it was a great honor meeting him!

During this trip I filmed his new Ultra Flat Kite!

See the short video here:
http://www.kiteforum.tv/component/optio ... Itemid,30/

For Bruno the most important thing is safety, therefore he develops the Ultra Flat Kite, so we can ride with smaller kites and can depower it a lot. Also the restart seems to be very fast. These developments will help people from around the world to enter the sport and make the riding for the current kiters saver.

It will be interesting what the industry will make out of this new design.

Greets
Toby

I tried it only for 5 min.
It was a 10.0.
The depower is excellent of course, it turns fast and it restarts very quick.
The turning is like a normal bow kite, and I need to adjust to that, since I ride a 2006 C kite.
After trying it I took my 16.0 out and had slightly more power, but not much.
So a 10 did get me in going in about 13-16 knots (not sure how much we had, maybe Bruno remembers?)

But a kite like this will be all a beginner to a pro need, since it does everything. And for the few others who want the kite different, there will be enough choices.
I wish I had over 20 knots to check out the lift and hangtime, with these winds it is hard to tell. One day though.

Check the video and compare it to the Sof-X kite.

Looks very high aspect.

I wonder two things:

1) seems like it might be prone to inversions

2) How does it do when you put the kite lower in the window?

Hola Toby,

The kite looks nice... look forward to seeing more of it.

OT... how is las terrenas? The spot looks very nice as long as you dont fall over the corals. Are there some night life, restaurants there? Looks flatter and less crowded than Cabarete. Thinking of a Vacation with the wife and that might be a better option, since she is still a beginner and might get overwhelmed with the masses at Cabarete.

Thanks

G
