Maui in August

Postby wondergiulio » Mon Jun 25, 2007 9:07 am

Hi, I will be the first 15 days of August in Maui, what size of kites may I have with me? I usually ride Vertigo 14, 10 and 8... But I am thinking about taking a beast 6 cause someone told me that the wind blows over 30knt every day. Is this true?
Thanks

Not every day,but it WILL blow over 30 knots !

Take your 6,and leave your 14.

maybe you would get by with your 8. Might just ahave to miss a couple of mega wind days.

Blade Vertigo wind range is till 36+ so I think i can do... Do you think I can find some spot where wind blows lighter in the mega windy days? cause I don't want to buy a kite just to use a couple of times in the year..
And sorry, where to stay? I am in honeymoon so I want find a place where my wife can have some fun too.
Thanks

No spots with lighter wind !
Best bet is to go early. You are only allowed to kite or windsurf after 11am.

Wind kicks in strong between 1.00 and 3.00.

For the new wife, you would probably be better off at Kihei. Other side of Island from Kite Beach. You can stay at the Sundowner or similar and kite out the front,or 20 min drive to North Shore. Big shops etc.there. Not much on North Shore, but much more beautifull area !

Pity you don't have a 9 !!

If you are heavy, you may get by most days.

It'll be nukin 30 for a week; I'll be on my 6M stylin and Wally and Wonder will have gotten blown into the beach on their 12s; have the right kite or suffer the consequences,,,,
