Forum Rule Proposal

on another forum i enjoy reading (pbnation.com) there's a rule set in place for anyone who creates 'vs' threads. i.e. this marker is better than this one, etc etc. for people who start these threads, the mods give a one week ban.
i think something like this would be nice on kiteforum. though it makes more sense in a pre-pubescent ego-inflated paintball forum, it's starting to get just as bad here.
it really doesn't matter what you ride. it's cool if you're psyched about your new kite, but don't go preaching to people about what they're doing wrong if they don't ride what you do.
just chill, have a good time, and feel the breeze. that's all what we're here for, isn't it? a common love? let's show it.

I agree !
:thumb:

what it comes down to anyway is, that everybody wants 1 kite of each (brand and size, Bow,"C",SLE, Hybrid, Flat, zeta, bat, oval, foil, green, etc)

let's go kite and if not, watch videos of Len10 just killing it ( I don't care what he is using, he just kicks ass )

I disagree, I don't think a rule needs to be created.

Most of these heated threads are fed by over grown children and enjoying the oppurtunity to act like a juvenile. There's probably a couple of fools taking it seriously, but mostly idiots (like myself) having a good time.

Also, if someone isn't interested in this juvenile behavior.. just don't read the thread.

No rules please.

damn, now I have o agree again...

this forum would actually suck without people posting crap (me included)

Bashing is still stupid though.

PS: how come there are not more girls in the PKRA?

Bullshit

No one made a chic movie about kite surfing.. ala "blue Crush"... :girl:

Unfortunately a lot of women in kiting probably won't happen.

Windsurfing stayed mostly dudes until it was cancelled!

No rules! :bye:

the problem is all this crap (bashing/pimping/fake reveiws/look at my new gear/buy this from me) is making all the actual info that is on this forum go to waste!!

I propose that the whole main kitesurfing gets changed to some kind of "Spam corner" and make an additional forum for people who actually have interesting to say.

When a thread gets taken over, just throw it in the spam corner/flame bin so everyone can have a go at it...

Maybe..

Keep them in the forum.. but.. add a temp gauge or a flame next to the neated threads. That way people will know which ones are just rants versus intelligent communications.

Just an idea.

By the way, what's better a BOW or SLE

LOL, the paradox. Well I think it is possible to compare kites or gear without "bashing" (I find the whole concept of bashing and pimping a little disturbing as everyone has different definition of what it is). People just have to realize that the writer is stating something from a purely subjective stance. There isn't one kite that is best for all. We are different and have different needs and wants. Of course there are kites that cover a wider aspect, but in general there is no law. I find is very informative to read threads that compare gear..one of the reasons is because they are refer then to kites I might know. I still know it is subjective,...I can agree or disagree, and I can post my opinion, but it still does give me a better frame of reference.

I think it would be the end of kiteforum if there was such a rule here. It becomes too narrow, and people would constantly call for Toby to remove threads...which really isn't less juvenile :-)
