Valves falling off !!!!!

Postby RayU » Mon Jul 23, 2007 5:51 pm

This is bullshit!!!
I don't care what brand they are the valves come off the bladders. I am told it is from heat. Heat of being in the car heat from being in storage in a shed ETC. I have 2006 kites I will not mention the brand and slam them because it appears to be a universal problem.
Whats more frustrating than getting all hyped to ride drive to your spot, set up your shit and your kite folds like a limp dick!! All you can do is watch as your buds shred! AAAAHHHHGGGG! It's obviously unsafe if it happens on the water. I have 4 2006 kites and they all need attention with these valves. You spend that kind of money and get this hassle?
Come on manfacturers deal with this obvious desighn flaw.
I have talked with people who use the replacement stick on valves at $15 a pop and they fail too.
Anyway what the best fix for the problem now. And what can be done to eliminate this obvious flaw in future designs.

I guess the solution is fly foils?

I glued some valves here with GluFix from http://www.Kitefix.com and they have held up nicely. You have to really clean everything with the alcohol, but it works.
Cheers

Any manfacturers out there have a solution? There has to be a way to make a bladder with a perminent valve conection. Come on deal with this!

I would think that one would be able to use the ultrasonic welding and form the strut into one solid piece.

I had a couple of problems 3 years ago with Naish kites, but since then OK.

Is this problem to do with North kites secifically ?

for sure it happens on 2006 Vegas from North.
No idea if the new gear has the same problem, so far Id didn't hear any.

But I must say: my struts are always inflated when I'm in Brazil, so some months in a row...in hot air!

Anyone with 2006 Vegas having no problems? If so, where do you kite and do you keep your struts inflated?

This is a very big problem here in Thailand, although they can be fixed with a tube of contact adhesive. I have had to fix 3 this season so not that bad... Mine are just the inlet and outlet, but I know people who have had to do the whole lot!
