BullsShit.com wrote:How come jumping with the 08 is so much more difficult then with the 07??
Kite has no response and feels like a crap bow.
Any tricks you use??

My setting with the 07 bar:
green.
second knot on back lines.
Broken stopper, so...no stopper.

Any hints?

Aloha
PS: I loved the jumping and speed of my 07, so far not impressed with the 08.
you definitly have a problem with your setup...in all aspects the 2008 rebel is better then the 2007..especially in bigger sizes than 10..jumping is very easy...I don t know if that will help you

my setup on the 2007 bar for the rebel 08

red
backlines on the upper knot
depower pulled 5 cm on cleat
on kite back lines are on fastest setting

BY THE WAY...after changing your settings to green and shortening your depower line have you changed the connections to the right position underneath the floaters???

I ride my Vegas 07 12m2, Rhino 07 7m2 and Rebel 08 10m2 on my same 2007 bar without any changes!

I just have adjusted all lines even and check them regulary. And just trim with clamcleat if nessesary.

What I see often at my local beach is people ride with almost full power in the kite with streched arms, so when the pull in, they will oversheat the kite.

I ride with full power almost against the Iron Heart, so I not need to adjust when unhooking

I got all changed, green to green etc.
I had my 07 on yellow. Loved it.
08 on yellow...over sheeting like nothing else.
Seems way odd to me.
I like the depower with green, but jumping sucks.
no idea what's going on.
It's not like am new to kiting, but it almost feels like it.(8 years)
Is it me or is the 08 like a bow kite (feels like one)

I have been out on real gusty days, up and down winds, maybe that's what's going on.
PS: any help with my bladder problem...valves are on the wrong spot. distance between de-flate and in-flate not enough.
Valve gets sucked in, right from the get go out of the box brand new bullshit

Hi,

Why don't you go to the shop and change the kite? Spend some time with the seller explaining the problem, maybe he can put things in place and if not, give you another kite.

The gusty days with weak wind is where it is required to know your kites better and have more feeling on the bar. If you come from Rebel07 or Vegas, the different is that you really must let that bar out. You can't dive the kite and pull hard.

Maybe take some time at the beach to get the feeling on the bar for your new kite. In a low wind day, try everything from backstalling the kite to letting it fly as fast as possible. It is what i do to know new kites.

I am riding a kite that is very powerfull and also requires some speed. So riding a 9m at 12 knots as i have been doing is a challenge.

We are using smaller kites in lower winds, so we need more skill to get the power out. There are no miracles :-)

See you!

Valve problem

Postby shredster » Sat Sep 15, 2007 2:33 pm

If your valve is off 3 inches, and you can't get any satisfaction from
your dealer, buy a new valve from the place at the Gorge; Air Way or
something. Anyway they have stick on valves that some claim are better
than the original valves. North gives you some bladder mat'l so just
plug the old hole. What a pain in the ass for a new kite. It's not like they are cheep $$. I also have a valve that gets sucked into the kite on my
new Rebel 12m '08. Also, I went back to my 12m '07 yesterday in light winds. I used the '08 bar and had none of the oversheeting problems of
the 12m '08. I am not convince it measures up to the hype. I haven't had
a good day to ride them both. It seems to me that you should be comfortable on a kite from the get-go, not have to learn how to put up with it's idiosyncracies. Especially on this kite. Maybe hype, who knows. IMHO :-?

Exactly.
What the f***! $1500 for a kite and it is not right? That's bull!
I did not pay 1500, but this is absolutely crap. Also, they say they don't have any bladders and or any info on the new rebels, meaning they don't know crap.
This sucks.
I love north, but right now...NOT!

Wawando, above on an entry to this thread is the Main Man when it comes
to bladder repair. His advice and repair procedure helped me fix a 6" by 10" hole in my kite bladder. That was years ago, but it still applies. Wanando , you da man, help this man out ! :thumb:

you know what is sad?

North wants proof of it.
Pictures and such.
Who do they think I am?
Been kiting since the beginning and this is the first time this happened to me.

Bullshit!

Fix it and don't give me any excuses and send me anew bladder or anew kite.
...or, I want my money back!
I will get pix of the wrong bladder length, but come on...

Kite bladder mix up

Postby shredster » Sat Sep 15, 2007 5:16 pm

I have heard of kite bladders being mixed up at the factory. Not with North but with another brand. I guess it can happen to all mfg. Hang
in there.

What wind range do you think this new rebel 12m has? For 85Kg; Intermediate and a 132*39 board 12/13knots? low end and 23/24knots high end?

Thanks

Good winds! :thumb:
