Stormy:
No problem with exchange of experience and views. But, we are too busy flight testing and tweaking our prototype kites to be speculating or commenting on hypothetical CAD outputs. Suggest you remove them and take them over to the following sites where users post and discuss designs:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Inflatodesign/messages
http://kite-stuff.org/forum/index.php

Or, at least start your own design topic as suggested.
Thanks!

Thanks Stormy! Good luck with your designs.
For those interested, looks like we have some good wind for testing the next few days...

I like your sail and now the DS idea, could be very high standard design... :thumb: waiting to buy :D

JohnB and I have had a couple days testing both on land and on water here in the Columbia River Gorge (brrrr!) We've arrived at a simple and direct bridle system without pulleys and the kite performs reasonably well in all respects without major modifications. Of particular note is very smooth flight and powerful sweeping turns with an axis point at the outer wingtip TE. This is a subtle point but important as all parts of the kite are moving forward in the turns and generating lift as opposed to kites where the pivot point is more inboard. We hope to shoot some video tomorrow conditions permitting but here are a few admittedly poor pics. The primary advantage of the D2 planform is the high PA powerful central lifting section and the small, lightweight wingtips.

Fixed bridle flatten the canopy too much at the center when powered...maybe you can try a less centered canopy to limit this problem. by adding tension on 3/4 span bridles...

I can see you have the same problem I've explain you on your monostrut...you are making it too flat for it's outline...too much AoA at tips.

just a supposition, a video would confirm it, or not.

im no layman... but judging from the pics... i agree. the bridle connection positioning and line lenght needs work.

very cool you guys are opening up your design process like this. keep at it!

Bill, John, I appreciate all the R&D you are doing on this kites, I would like to know, if it' s possible, the weight or the difference in weight beetween the MS and the DS and a classic 12m sle kite, I think it could be very interesting to know it.

thanking you in advance and have a good ride..

Thanks for the question Nemoz –
This is one of the primary design parameters of the Delta Plan Form; reduce the strut count and the wing area which also reduces the overall weight.

I would say most production 12m SLE kites are a minimum of 9lbs/ or 4.0 kilos and more.

So far the Mono and Dual Strut versions are very close weight wise: (just under 8lbs./or 3.65 kilos) We have another material which we have been testing that brings the weight down further to (6.5lbs / or 2.95 kilos)

When you consider a kite that is already “lightâ€Â
