LF Havoc Sizing

Postby Vrtclhykr » Sat Mar 22, 2008 9:55 pm

Hey all. Just trying to make a decision on my sizing for some new 08 Havocs. Our main flying spot is Squamish B.C. Wind range is usually averaging around 19mph with days that get up towards a 26 average.
Me well....a little winter weight I am sitting at about 195lbs. Been riding for 5+ years.
I am ordering the recoil comp 134 this week.
I am coming from a 10m 12m torch combo with a LF Element 134 that gets me on the water most days. Any days that are light I don't bother anyhow.
I have ridden the 12m and 14m and the Session 12m. To my surprise the 14 actually turns quick. But don't know how much use I would get from a 14m.

So. My question to those that have new Havoc quivers.

8m and 12m
or
10m and 14m

or.....since I come from a Torch quiver and SS Fuel quiver before that should I be really looking at the Hi-Fi instead in a 9m 12m combo. I have not flown any HiFI yet.

Cheers All

I weigh 75kg (dry), ride a 123X40 custom freestyle board and a 10m havoc '08 from 14 to 28 knots. sweetspot is about 16 to 20 knots for me.
This kite turned out to be my one kite quiver, all the other kites in my invetory basically sit in the trunk.

sounds like you might want to stay away from the 14 because it is still kind of a "big" kite...the 8 is a powerful 8...I can ride it down to 17knots (and up to 25+) or so (I'm 185 and ride a mission) I love the 8, well I really like all sizes in the right wind...the challenge is to find the right two...I think 8/12 sounds good!!!! Hi Fi? maybe...but best to try them first...the 08 Havoc is the bomb...

I was leaning towards the HiFi but now you have me wondering Brad. Have you flown the HIFi yet? Your reponse about the HiFi does not seem to pumped.

no no...don't listen to me... I have flown the hi fi but not nearly as much as the havoc..probably because I like the havoc so much...I like the hi fi too...

between the 10/14 combo and the 8/12 combo...based on what you said...go with the smaller...

can you fly both before you commit? obviously, that is the best-

If your a fan of a 5th line setup and even more performance oriented kite go with the HIFI 9 and 12m.

Otherwise if your mostly going to be between 15knts and 25knts go with the 8m and 12m for sure. I ride the 14m alot down here in San Diego and its my light wind kite. It is no where near as fast as the 12m Havoc and Hifi. Personally I would go with the HiFi as its a bit faster turning and fifth line is nice and safe.

Whatever kite you pick go with the smaller sizes. Even at your weight you will appreciate the smaller kites. Also you can always bump up to a 140cm Element if you find yourself needing more power from the board.
