Windfinder.com: New SuperForecast Maps for Europe

Postby j0nes » Fri Jun 27, 2008 9:10 am

We are happy to announce a new feature on Windfinder.com: the SuperForecast Maps. We created over 50 maps (e.g. Netherlands, UK Southwest, Denmark North, Spain Strait of Gibraltar etc.) covering the main coastline of Europe as you can see in the overview below. A clickable version can be found at the SuperForecast Maps Overview page where you can navigate to your favorite maps. Just like our SuperForecast for your favorite surfspot, the SuperForecast maps are available in hourly timesteps.

So why should I use maps in addition to the SuperForecast for my favorite surfspot? The SuperForecast maps give you a better picture about the general weather situation. They help you to see whether you are right in the middle of a strong wind field (go out and surf!) or if your surfspot is barely touched. With the help of forecast maps you can estimate better how strong and consistent the wind will be.

To find the right map for your surfspot, you can select the map on the overview above or on your local SuperForecast page (e.g. Tarifa), just click the "Forecast Map" link in the head section of the forecast table. If you want to see an animation of the SuperForecast maps for your region, click the "Animation" link in the left navigation bar on any SuperForecast map page.

If you have any suggestions or feedback for the new SuperForecast maps, we are happy to receive them per mail to jonas@windfinder.com or just reply to this thread.
