I am interested in making my own lines with spectra. I have used Q-line in the past.

What is the best way to make the ends?

Can anyone point me towards a resource?

Stitched loops are always the best option

if coated lines and impossible to stitch them - use a "figure 8" knot to make the loops.

Toy kite shops sell the sleeve and splice tools. Stop by a stunt kite shop.

I have had good results with making sleeve from parachute cord (with the middle pulled out) slid over the spectra and hand stitched with v92 polyester thread. Basically just copied how the mfrs do it, only I had to settle for plain white sleeves.

Dont bother, the knots you have to make become a pain as they get tangled with the line caus they dont slip thru. I know that because I re sleaved mine. You are better off just buying proper line with loops already on them

Dwights tip about the toy kite shops is right on. They sell little splicing and sleeving tools. Then anyone with a modern sewing machine can do the zig zag stitch in seconds just like the ready made lines. Use strong polyester thread. Do NOT ever tie braided spectra lines with any knot !!! ...even a figure eight knot will seriously weaken normal braided spectra.

Incidentally, I doubt you will save much money over buying a ready made, color coded, line set.

(If you use Q powerline, which has linear filaments inside (as opposed to braided line which is hollow inside), a figure eight knot is apparently acceptable ..and zig zag stitching does not work)
