As 8 litres is close to 2 gallons and 100km ~62 miles. Still I think that your RAV's 28mpg is pretty good as you could fit more stuff than the SAAB.

here is my latest Beach Car. it is a 2000 ford E350 That I converted to 4x4. She is lifted 12" has a barret jackson pearl white paint job, It has a dana 60 front end and a 7.3 liter turbo diesel engine and even with 35" tires it still gets 22-25mpg. Inside i am still working but now there is 2 stand up paddle boards 6 surfboards 10-12 kite boards and around 20 kites inside at all times just incase the conditions get right..later ted B
