How difficult driving in Jeddah is shows my GPS log. Today I needed 1.30 hour more driving time because I did not find the entry to the beach road. Not a lot english signs here.

A funny tale from yesterday: While kiting I noticed a police jeap which drove onto the beach and watched me. When the police switched on their roof beacon and I could hear the typical police sound I thought now it's over they will arrest you. But they were only applauding in their way. :cool2:

OK. The TV team was busy :nono: , but the arabian did shoot a video movie from me. With this he will aks the government for permission to open a kiteboarding school. Seems to be a strong business case, because every saudi has a 11 000 U$-Jetski, but nobody is kiteboarding up to now. And the saudi have time...and wind.

To shorten the way to the kitespot, you can also go straight after the checkpoint and then right. But I'm not sure whether it is easy to find, because there are no signs:

hallo guys,

you are on the correct way! there is the whole south beach area called kilo 70 and kilo (stands for km) 90. a bit further is a place called shwaiba about 130km (or simmilar) has a very flat lagune 1km *5km i guess not deeper than knee deep. good for the beginner who was replaying.

in the north you can go to rabigh. about 150km. big big but also very deep lagune and the open see.

if no wind get your spear fishing stuff with you to all areas you go outside th ecity!!! you will catch something!!!
but be aware of coast guards. they do not mind you or your kite. but leave the guns in the water when they are coming around,.......

i am kiter (advanced beginner) and windsurfer (no beginner 8 )

living in jeddah at least till summer 2010 an having access to a nice private beach and know other water addicted expats here,.....

cheers christian

Everyone rides their jetski because, from my experience, most Saudis are very poor swimmers.

Not to ruin the party, but all I read about in the local papers is the vast amount of raw sewage pumped into the Red Sea from Jiddah each day...It might be worthwhile to find out where the sewage is pumped into the ocean and determine the currents.

Stop shooting all the fish. Between all the spearguns and sewage, the few damaged reefs that remain in the area will quickly be gone.

pictures of the mentioned spot see www.kitebeaches.com, but I'm also interested in pictures of the other spots.
@Christian: if you have photos of your spots, could you please post them?
