This has happened to me multiple times and it is b/;c everything you all are saying. The DD is too long and it cracks when bending it. I jammed some thick wire up there and it helps but it does keep me on edge waiting for it to happen again. Any word from North?

Rep Update.
A friend has been in contact with our local rep. Basically, he said North hasn't seen this problem very much. The rep loaded us up with a bunch of the inserts that go inside the DD. But the custom repairs , some mentioned here, seem to be a better idea.

wjb is right. CL can escape hook even with a good DD if lines slack and CL goes below hook. See viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2343303

This works best for me....an old harness line. Cut it in half then slip over sreader bar and cinch down. The spreader bar pad cover keeps it from sliding towards hook.(not that it matters if it does, just easier to grab) Easy to pull out and gets out of the way when hooking back in. Can't stretch with ck loop and fall out like some do. Stiffer part is btw the hook and spreader bar, so not likely to bend.
