Picked up a Montana 9.5 from Kite Country out of San Diego last week.
Flew it for the 2nd time yesterday. I weigh 130 lbs, so this is my light wind kite.
I have previously flown a 10 meter Speed, but the depower was inadequate, although it seemed to have decent power in light wind.
I basically fly PL Synergy, (also from Kite Country), but as most PL addicts agree in super light wind, these kites are a little slow. So any wind less than 12 or 13mph I am always on the lookout for a better light wind kite...
Anyway I am having an absolute blast on the Montana 9.5... It is awesome in many respects.
It is so stable, and the power is awesome. The kite pivots so quickly it generates nice power in the turn even in 8 to 11 or 12 mph.. I am riding a 122 thorn, so I need to plane up pretty quickly.
I launched it in about 8 or 9 and it was fairly simple, I like the way it launches. Pre-inflation totally unnecessary.. So I find the set up is amazingly quick and simple.
OK, this is what I really like about this kite..
It is really fast, and it handles light wind amazingly well. It generates nice power while pivoting.
I has that peter Lynn soft cushy feel, (which I am accustomed to).
You can yank the kite all over the place with confidence.
Very little bar resistance, this I like.
Creates excellent board speed.
It really has incredible depower and a very nice feel to it.
I really like everything about the Montana, oh, the bridle is so simple!! (Compared to FS Speed)
Congratulations to Tom Bordeau and his team, the Montana is right on.
It's the feel I am looking for ( I don't want a 13 meter bow kite)
