polo,
the length of the blades could make a big difference. the guy could be correct...i'm going off of experience with one with a windsurfing sail and it would spin out when going fast and if overpowered. my thought is the same when going really fast. most likely 90% of the time it would work out really well.
now...bring on the snow again so we don't have to worry about ice. lol.

Quick comment..
Ice blades, you can order them from steel water jet cutting company. Just sharpen them a bit. Dull = bad. Too sharp = bad. Investigate hockey skate blade about what is good. I used two-radius blade on my blades.
So order mountain board, measure axles it has. Draw a cad draving of curved steel blade. Conside ground clearance and stiffness of the blade. Add axel-direction extra thickness to mounting. I made one by myself from brass.
This is what I made with 123d designer. Order 4x. Screw on thickening parts.
Snowboard blade, have Nobile snowkite board and no blades needed on icy conditions..

oh I like those ropes! I added some elastic to them so they don't droop. I was using a little bit of wood for stoppers. ps to solve the grip problem I adjusted the mounting angle of the iceblades (instead of 45 degrees I mount them at 15 or 20 degrees).
