Much interest and anticipation on the forums around the wainman blunt boards, but little info on the program of these boards. Minimalist website promises some freeride/freestyle. Not too helpful.
Anybody knows more? for whom is the 135x43 made for?
They're are not quite released yet , but if anyone thinks he can already bring some feedback, please go on...

cheers
Davince

Hopefully you will find a little bit more info here, the Blunts have just been released officially, slight delay waiting for software etc. 120-125-130-135. I have ridden the 125 and 135 up to now but in crappy conditions, hopefully this weekend will be better. First impressions, quality, very light, but time on the water needed.

Where are you based as i spend a fair bit of time in between Holland-Italy-UK I will be moving to Scheveningen soon are you near the Hague. Anyways fire away on the question.

Phil

If you know scheveningen and the north sea, you should understand I need a board that can put up with our condition. Depending on the tide (half of the time), it can be messy, choppy and the current is a bitch which seems to always work against me.
And although Ruben Lenten and copycats are doing well here with their hyper oriented freestyle machines, I do prefer a board with some more allround characteristics.

It is too soon to get proper feedback but the guys who made it should be able to tell for what they made it. And what about the sizes? I like boards around 135, but what about 43 wide?!? Looks like the wakeboard of the line. There is no info to help make a pick.

Hopefully I can test it. cool. :)

Please, send me a p.m. when you come to Scheveningen.

Hi,
I've been riding the Wainman Blunt 135 for one month, now. No less than 12 sessions on it, and I have lent the board to many riders of different levels and weights.
I'll try to resume up my own impressions and also what others who have tried have said:

- Construction: the board is really light, but really solid. The bottom skin is very scratch-resistant. I have ridden over shallow water with stones, shells, etc... and no scratches. That's really good (I'll put it on sliders with confidence). The finish is really good and the rails have been finished by hand. The rubber in the rails is not hard, it is rounded and there's no sharp points. The hardware is of really good quality (can't comment more on this, I ride the board with bindings). I love the graphics, but that's up to you :D

Freeriding:
- Goes onto a plane really quickly (well, it is 135 x 43, no surprises here)
- Holds heavy chop and strong winds very easily and with comfort . The rail bits hard and despite being wide the board behaves great in strong winds. Big surprise here, the board is wide and quite ridgid and I expected a hard ride on heavy chop.
- Has very good speed but it is not the fastest board out there. No sonic booms. Very good acceleration but others on naroower boards will travel faster.
- Easy to go upwind, and with good angle.
- Comfortable ride with no spray-to-face at all.
- Not slippery, not blocked in transitions. Half in between.
- Easy board for sent jumps.
- Too big for smaller people, these please go for the 130 x 40.
- Many many smiles from freeriders, overall.

Wakestyle:
- Nice "wide stance" inserts option.
- Felt at home on this board from get-go. Many others agreed with this.
- Loads of pop. LOADS of pop.
- The board makes harsh landings easy. It absorbs most of the shock and does not want to suddenly accelerate and slip out of your feet when you land with power and speed.
- Board's ligthness is really welcome for rotations and getting yourself inverted.
- I don't think I'll be able to snap this board in two. It looks really solid.
- Smaller riders may prefer the 130.
- Smaller riders who use boots will find the 135 perfect.
- I have tried a couple of boards that provide even better wakestyle performances, but those boards are not half as comfortable or fun as the Blunt is.

Overall a very well rounded product that most big riders, from "lawn mowers" to "hardcore low mobe landers" love. I was really happy with previous board but now I do not miss it at all.

For those who know about the Rabbit kites: this board delivers the same mix of fun and solid performances.

Once more, great work, Lou.

Thanks kakanala, your review goes beyond my expectations. And it seems honest too; getting rare lately.

Again, 135x43.
Your experience is with bindings, right? never tried bindings but aren't you supposed to hold your edge and control better with boots? No offense, but are you sure then that your experience is relevant (I mean with respect to chops&43cm wide&straps)?

I usually like wide boards because I'm heavy but one drawback is usually that they start bouncing earlier in the chops. They seem slower too.
Have you tried the 130x40.5? I expect the two to feel very different.

Can anyone tell about the construction? The core, foam? wood? a mix? I read about a bamboo core. Shaper is jimmy lewis, right? And the highly praised weight, can you tell us what it is exactly?

Thanks.

davince:
I ride my Blunt 135 with iSync bindings from Cabrinha most of the time. These are no boots, they are actually much closer to "usual" footstraps.
This is me (94 kg) on a pussy loop in just 12 knots: Blunt 135 + Boss 12.

roberto30:
the board is in my car, will try to take some pics later.

I currently ride a 133 x40 recoil, with crappy pads!! You guys sold me. My search for a new boards has ended. I just rode a crazy fly 133x42 back to back with my board. The difference was amazing. I knew then and there i needed to sell my board......and was looking for something a little bigger. This is it. Thanks for the review
