Here are some pics from the BBQ and Sunday. Wind finally arrived right when the raffle was happening. There were a lot of drooling kiters yelling at the raffle people to HURRY UP!!! San Diego once again took home a lot of good raffle prizes including the Best kite. I had the chance to demo a some of the Eclipse gear. The Sabre 128X38 rocks. The board looks sick and rides awesome. There's a really sweet snake skin looking texture on the deck that is a really nice touch. I didn't ride it but the Dimitri Pro looks great as well with a see-through wood deck. Had a go on the 9m Kima right at the end of the day when the wind wasn't so hot. I have an 08 6m Nano and the Kima is very similar in characteristics. The new Morph bar was on the Kima and is pretty nice. Much cleaner than the 08 bar, but I like the above the bar depower on the 08 personally. Dig the longer throw on the Morph and the idea that you can change the bar size. The 9m kima is very fast turning and when riding a wave (or trying to ride big messy swell as the case may be) it's really fun. I had a little trouble getting it to park and pull to get upwind as the thing just wants to be turned, but I have a feeling that was the wind dying off. I did notice a bit of bar pressure on the Kima that I'm not used to from the Thrusters. I definitely want another go with this kite! Also rode a 12m LF Havoc which is a really nice kite. Powerful and predicable. LF's bar is really simple and clean. The Havoc is just a really easy kite that feels comfortable immediately. Hopped on a 130 LF Recoil as well which was cool. The pads and straps are just so comfy! Otherwise, I was pretty lame and just rode my own gear (8m, 12m 08 Thrusters). Even demo'ed it out to curious people. There were tons of kites up. It was the wild wild west in the water at times. I'm pretty sure no one even remembered right-of-way or courtesy rules. The key was to get out and away from the demo area. Good times! Thanks Kinsley and Marina and everyone! more pics after food is ingested!
