If you want to be competitive there is no question that you need a dedicated course racing board. Our new Race boards are custom made to order in California, with delivery (within the US) about 10-14 days from the date of order. They are available in several sizes - currently the 5'10 is by far the most popular. Ready to rip out of the box, these boards are MSRP $949 USD including G10 race fins.

We've been testing the 5'10 Race extensively at Crissy and will have a fleet of these on the water for the 1st Cabrinha race of the season, hopefully today if Mother Nature cooperates!

Oceanrodeo.com will be updated soon with details on the Race. For now, please check out the Custom Surf program.

The problem with production race designs is that by the time you are committed and up and running, the board is old news.....that's why we are going semi-custom. It allows for incremental improvements and a quick turnaround. I'm not knocking the North, but there is not a single person in the entire Cabrinha series fleet that races one (even last season). It's looks like a great board but was built to small to appeal to 95% off the racers. I raced a 5'4 custom last year, and even at 150lbs I find a distinct advantage with my new 5'10 - and we typically don't race in light wind at Crissy.

Cheers,

Evan

Good point here Evan,i find also North goes a bit short in lenght for a directional specially for large people. But not everybody is looking for the cutting edge on design if you plan to use it as a lightwind alternative or competing at your local courses at max,my point on more production boards goes for more affordability for the people in price and avaibility.Don't get me wrong ,i'm in love with your shapes both the race and surf   ,they look extremely good but i hardly think a custom will be more affordable than production even if it has to be shipped to Europe....Just my thoughts.

Yeah, good point Mike. We do warehouse product in Europe but these boards don't fall into that equation. I will ask John Z in HQ to address pricing in Europe after the Easter weekend, as that is outside of my turf.

And I agree, race boards make a killer light wind alternative - nothing can touch them and they are fun as hell if there's a group of you on them.

Cheers,

Evan

Mike,

This is a very new program for us in the US and Canada. We are working closely with a shaper in California to be able to provide these boards to our NA customers in a quick and inexpensive fashion.

It is entirely possible that in time we will roll a similar program out fot Europe but at this time if you wish to order a board it will, unfortunately, need to be shipped to you from California at a rather significant expense.

John Z - OR
