Looking for an 09 upgrade for my current favorite 9m surf kite, an 07 Nano.
I got to try a 9m Eclipse Kima and it's a good candidate: a little improvement in every way. I got to try a 12m Slingshot RPM in flat water and I thought that it had similar qualities considering that it was a 12m: even power across the window and through turns that are quick to initiate and complete; relatively quick turning on slack lines; little tendency to fall back or forward(Hindenberg) on slack lines; no tendency to back stall; quick climb from a low position in light wind; gust munching; pretty forward flying.
Anybody flown a 9m Kima and a 10m or 8m RPM enough to compare them for the qualities I mentioned? Kevin Salter?
John

Just so you know both kites are completely different in all regards. So doing a "VS" thing is kinda hard to do since they have no similar flying characteristics. They could feel as if they are the same in terms of bar pressure but in all reality they are two different kites in design and over all perfromance.
C vs C - Open C vs Open C "RPM could be the only one on the market right now..?"- Delta vs Delta- Hybrid vs Hybrid - Bow vs Bow. Makes more sense to compare/versus kites that are similar. If not it just comes down to who pimpz harder then the other; leading to no usable knowledge... I could be wrong but that's what i think.

I have to agree, The Kima is nothing like the RPM, kind of apples to oranges!

I think it depends on what kind of wave riding you're into dude. Since the RPM would fly like more of a C kite then I would go for it with an aggressive unhooked slap the lip style. Kima would be more of a depower and carve kind of thing.

Here is a post from a happy Kima customer in the NW, it was posted some where on this forum.
Kimas have been shipping since Jan.
Here is a copy of the post.
I got to fly the Eclipse Kima 9m at the LaVentana Kite Expo. The following is my personal opinion. I currently fly 2008 REV's.
WOW!!!!! Holly Shit Balls, if you get a chance to fly this kite you will know what I am talking about. I flew this kite two different times because I liked it so much. Both strapped and strapless. Very solid stable feeling kite. This kite is very responsive to rider input and has a quick pivot turn without loosing power. It seems that the harder you fly the kite the more responsive it becomes; it’s a kite that responds to your every input instantly, without any hesitation. If your into wave riding this is your ticket. Dont beleive me? Fly it, then you will.
Dimitri, Dale, and Mat, thanks for the hospitality and hooking me up with everything, you guys have a great product I cant wait to fly the Kima at my local wave spots

Why don't you guys go on hypeforum.com?
I asked for input from people who have ridden both enough to compare. I fly my 07 9m Eclipse Nano SLE and my 05 9m Slingshot Diesel C kite frequently and can compare them exactly. They behave very much the same! I prefer the Nano mostly with my surfboard in the surf because it relaunches better. I prefer the Diesel mostly with my skimboards in the flat because it upwinds and jumps better. I don't want to hear anything but experienced, hands on comparison, over at least several sessions, with the 9m Kima vs the 10 and or 8m RPM. If you don't fit that description, do us a courtesy and stay off the thread.
