The 12m is the best size Assault. I've also owned the 16m and 9m.

What year do you have? my '06's popped. No problems with '07's.

The '06 bar and '07 bar are totally different. The '07 bar has much smoother throw and below the bar depower.

Ride suicide on the '07. You can "search" for why. Yeah, it's probably safer on the depower knob, but it depowers plenty on suicide. (if there is a better term than suicide, please correct me)

The kite is slow, which isn't that bad if you're a beginner or taking it into big wind. Just use the biggest bar you can find. I used the big bar with the 9m at all times.

Pump it hard. Mine used to invert frequently. It would also just kind of fold up and fall too. But I'm heavy and would take it out with a twin in big wind.

If you can't relaunch this kite, you should quit kiting. So easy.

I got the Assaults to replace my M-80's. I eventually used the Assaults only when gusty. The M-80's were much faster and smoother. God, I wish I could ride one again sometime.

The Assault has little value. It was ok at the time. I had many LF kites. It was certainly my least favorite. Just my opinion.

Now I ride Kima's and Thruster by Eclipse. Quite pleased. (Except that I boosted yesterday with my Thruster and made a terrible mess in the back of my wetsuit.!)

Has anybody flown an Assault on a 1:1 system?
I want to try it 1:1 with super short lines.
It would be very appreciated if you could share your experience.
Thanks.

i converted 2:1 to 1:1 on a 12m.... i didnt have these kites for long i quickly got rid of them... not saying they are just in my opinion they are the worst kite i have ever flown... the 1:1 worked ok...gave it more low end but dont even think about jumping with it like that you'll fall out of the sky harder then you ever have before.... good luck with the kites i hope they work well for you....

I had the 12 assault first generation. my experience: sloooow steering, heavy bar pressure, very stable, very easy to relaunch. the bar and lines were cheap crap which fell apart after a few months of use but I found the kite to be very well built. I eventually sold it cheap to a novice. If you are just starting out and you got one cheap to use and abuse, then it's ok but it is a 3-year old design and there are better choices out there.

To whom is the question directed? I did not.

Liquid12, don't be bummed with the new 12m. It's got good range, and it's tough (07). There is a guy here who only rides the Assaults. He kills it and looks good killing it.

Yosh, thanks for the response on the 1:1. Did you need to push it WAY out to depower? I'm going to try it. What control set up did you use?

The reason I am asking is that, I'd like to pass it on to a buddy who is a beginner. If there are any improvements I can make, I'm all ears.
