Please help with with access issues in New York

Postby vp » Sat May 16, 2009 3:23 pm

Please sign this petition to help with access issues on Long Island. Great South Bay offers miles of amazing riding conditions and access is now at risk.

Heres the issue coming up again. I hope we can get access back. That would be a huge win for us NY riders. Closing beaches to kiteboarders seems like an infectious virus. Once one township decides to shut it down. Then others with soon jump on the ban wagon. Unless everyone involved in this sport does what they can......their part!!!!!! Even if your not from the area please help us.

Sorry, but I won't sign the petition because of the obnoxious terms and conditions of the petition site.

However, I've obtain a copy of the Rules and Regulations for the NY State Park system and found the sections which might authorize RESTRICTED, not BANNED kiting.

Unfortunately, the definitions of some of the terms used need clarification so I've written to the Chief Counsel for the Park system for said clarification. What, if any, response I get, will determine the next step.

If any of you want a copy of the Rules and Regs, please send me an email and I'll send it to you.

I'll also be glad to sign a statement of support which you can add to the petition. However, I want it to as accurately tailored to responding to the authorities concerns as possible. Therefore, I'm waiting to hear from the Chief Counsel.

hey vp
can you kindly tell us why local lawmakers try to restrict kiting in your area? is there some environmental reason or it is just some property restrictions?
