Leader line snap, or ...

Postby FabsPH » Mon Jun 22, 2009 9:31 am

It's been a long long time since this happened.
But either my leader snapped right at the bar, or, which is my guess , the knot pulled through the bar end.(left steering line, back line)
WTF, this should not happen anymore. I lost my lines on the reef, saved the bar and kite.
Happened on my 08 Eclipse bar. Been flying it for over a year. I checked the other side, and there is absolutely no wear on the leader, so it must have been the knot. Seems like the little knot is not enough. I doubled up my knots on my spare bar now.

Anyone else had this happen (on semi new gear)?

I am just glad it did not happen 3 days earlier in 20ft waves.
PS: self rescue with a 6m Nano '08 worked pretty well. Wind was 10-30+, 10ft waves(face)

my leader broke at the wrong time! There was a sharp edge on the inside of the bar.
