rpm 8 vs rev 9

Postby ankers » Wed Jul 15, 2009 10:02 am

Having a rev 13 from last year, I am looking for a smaller kite to add. Normally I would have gone for the rev2 9. Now that the RPM 8 is on the market I am tempted to buy this one. Just wondering if the gap between rpm 8 and rev 13 is not too big.

Looking at the windcharts, the rpm 8 starts flying at the same windspeed as the rev 9. Can anyone confirm this? I need a kite that I can use from 18 knots++. How does the lower and higher range between rev2 9 and rpm 8 compares?? Thanks

I heard no RPM for 2010 is that true? Apparently an octane is coming back to replace it??

The Octane will replace the Rev2 not the RPM

The 9m Rev goes well with the 13m
I use mine from 18 knots upward (85 kg)

Don't know about the RPM 8. Just that the REV 9 is a fine combination with the 13m2. I even cut the lines on my 9 down to 20m to move up the wind range and make it faster for waveriding. There's now less overlap, and it's just fine for me. I'm 85kg and start using the 9m2 on a 6'2 from 15knts.

RPM 10 is more like a Rev 9 as I remember them.

and the RPM 8 is more like a Fuel 7M. And the 6M RPM is just sick as hell....!

@shymac

you claim the 8m would equal the 7m Fuel, in conclusion this
means the 10m would be a 9m Fuel and so on ...

On this basis the 12m RPM would equal the 11 m REV, or Fuel.

:?: :?: :?:

Is really strange how Forums and marketing can confuse customers.

Since SLE-Kites have a greater range how come we start comparing the RPM to Fuels!?!

I have a Rev2 9m, and absolutely love it.
I find personally the low end is exceptional. At 70kgs with a fast board i can get going at a steady 15 kts. So much so I opted not to buy the 11m, and now the 9 is my only kite. I miss the light light winds, but i'm over them anyway.
When the wind drops, I just grab a skim now.

@ankers
I am dealing with the same problem as you are, so I am just curious if you have made your decision.
By reading Forums and Magazines I am getting more and more confused. Maybe you have an answer.
thx

Just to add to the confusion, I find that the top end on the 10m RPM is less than on my 9m Rev - I wouldn't compare them as similar wind ranges..... The 10m RPM is a powerfull kite!
