we will see REVs in 2012. Or 2013. Same as with Octane - SS had last Octanes in 2006 perhaps?

Who cares about the name? I just want a kite that flys like a Rev. As long as SS dosen't take that away, I dont care what they call it. :thumb:

Just when I was thinking about Rev's for next year..
So what's the replacement for the Rev then?
Oh well, there's other kites out there.

Do a google search, a few pictures are starting to appear:

No solid reviews getting around yet, but word on the street is the Octane feels the same as the rev with the slightest bit more bar pressure.

It is supposed to jump higher and float longer than the rev, turn and fly faster than the rev.

I am skeptical the improvements over the rev are really that noticeable, like the improvements of the rev2 over the rev.

Either way, I've put my order in and can't wait to get my hands on a couple

What are peoples thoughts on not having a central strut?

Obviously Slingshot have done their R&D on this one, but what is the reasoning for losing this strut?

Do all other manufacturers have it wrong? Will the kite be as stable in the air or getting pummelled in the surf or relaunching - I cant think so, but again, I may be wrong.

The gap between the struts in the middle looks really big.
The rev had an unstable top end in gusty winds
so taking away the middle strut is surely going to make the canopy more unstable ?
What about when it goes face down in the water, no central strut to stop it rolling back on itself ?
Time will tell, the only way is try one out, it might work fantastic.

I agree completely Bradders, shymac, what is your marketing line one this one?

Why have Slingy gone for this big move in structural makeup of the kite?
