there is no fun to be had under 15 knts

if you want to spend the money it would take for a 2 kite quiver that would get you out from 15-35 to ride in wind so light that there is no intensity then go for it.


I am 200lbs and my largest kite is a 12m lei and with my 135x41 I am rocking at 15knts

life is too short to mess around with light wind, my advice get a sailboat and have fun with your friends and loved ones.

if you don’t want to spend money it would take only 1 kite that would get you out from 8 - 26 to ride in wind so light that there is intensity then go for it.

I don't think anybody looking to the forum for advise on a kite should be misled thinking they can drop a bunch of money on a big foil and have fun in next to no wind.

Why are you not comparable as kiteboarders?

Is he better than you because he can have more fun in less wind?

Are you better than him because you don't know how?

Is it possible that you might be comparable as kiteboarders but you have gear that is not comparable?

If the guy is having fun in a fart, is that somehow bad?

P.S. I have a lot of fun in not a lot of wind. Is it bad for me to advise people how to have fun in light wind? I don't want to harm people with such bad advice. Should I keep having all this fun alone while others pump up but can't keep up when it's light? Also, is it possible that you could benefit from having more of an open mind? Something worth considering when others seem to be having a lot more fun than you.

When in light wind or ULW (ultra light wind) conditions, you all people owners of marveleous delta shape magic pump, etc., are simply beachstanders I'm riding with my Flysurfer Speed 2 19 and Flydoor L doing aerial transition, jumps, raleys, blind landings etc.. I also have in my quiver pumps like Cabrinha Switchblade IDS but the real pleasure of cruising and jumping in virtually no wind is something very special. On the other hand if you people don't like foils or light wind kiting....who cares? Probably you are much involved in beach activities like being a mummy under the sun .

wind speed 2 meters high= 5 knots.
wind speed 20 meters high= 7/8 knots

Wind speed 2m high = 15kts.
Wind speed 20m high = 20kts - more than enough to get a 12m going, even with a 200lb rider. Hell, I could probably get a 12m C going in that much wind.

Not if you have the right gear.

Kiting on waves that arn't blown out... you have to try it.
I have had many memorable sessions in significantly less wind than 15knts.... 12mph for example
Often get some of the best breaks all to my self.... pick and choose any wave I want.
tell you the truth though I'd prefer to be sharing the wave

With the right gear under 15knots can be great fun.
