Why not? It is possible with: 60 kgs expert rider huge lightwind board flat water very constant wind wind speed 2 meters high= 5 knots. wind speed 20 meters high= 7/8 knots I like the part saying "... goes upwind in 5 knots with the XL FlyDoor, but also in more wind with the Radical ..." he does not want to say that with the Radical you need 9 knots at least. * Superb upwind potential - goes upwind in 5 knots with the XL FlyDoor, but also in more wind with the Radical Looks like a good prescription for light wind. I'm 60kg also and I'll be able to compare soon how close I can get with the above formula. DrLW

Hi everybody. I live in Michigan and made it to Tawas for the first time last weekend. A couple guys were out on 19m silver arrows and looked like they were having tons of fun while I was strugling with my 16m Havoc. I am supper interested in foil kites. I've been researching them all week and just came across this forum thread. I was wondering if any of you guys could point me in the right direction on how to learn more about these kites. I looked around on youtube and of course the Flysurfer website but I just want to learn more about launching and relaunching these style of kites. They seem to be much more expensive than tube style kites also.
I'm one of those guys that just likes to ride no matter what the conditions are. Those guys in Tawas were out rideing while I was sitting on the beach waiting for the wind to come up which never happend.
I way about 210 lbs. and I do have a light wind board (Cabrinha Plasma) so I allways at least try to go out in light wind. These Flysurfer kites look SWEET and I have to have one. I just like to do my research first.
One more thing, whats the difference between the Silver Arrow and the Speed3?

You will find lots of info on the forum called Foilzone.com
Just be slightly careful with what is being said there, some frequent posters are honest and just passionate, but some other ones are involved with kite-business and sometimes like to exaggerate a bit. From experience though, I find that what Armin (the boss/designer of Flysurfer) writes on forums (Kiteforum and Foilzone) is accurate and honest, very appreciable.
I am a big fan of these kites myself (I own a Speed2 15, a Psycho4 10 and a Psycho3 6) so I can only recommend you give it a try if you have the chance. To my opinion and from my experience of riding it for 1.5 year, the light wind perf of the Speed2 is unmatched. The only difference between Silverarrow2 and Speed2 is the material: the Silverarrow is made out of a lighter material, reducing the weight of the kite by 20 or 30%, which generates a nice benefit in the light stuff.
Bye Jacques

The speed 2 is to the speed2 silver arow as the speed3 is the the speed3 delux. You can get any of the flysurfers in the lighter material now as a delux.

Sounds good.... just on the Flydoor XL today on a speed 2 12m and 19m... we can go very low.... 68kg here.... I look forward to trying the Speed 3's next week... in Italy....! A local kiter 110kg just got one... He really needs the power! Quote: Freestyler wrote: Flysurfer Speed3 test by Kiteschule.com (60kg kiter)
For flysurfer it is not so simple to present a worthy successor of the Speed2. Now that the Speed3 is almost on the market, we test drove the speed3 in 15m2. Test conditions where 5 knots of wind with Flydoor XL and 15 knots of wind with the Flyradical. Here are our impressions in brief:
* Flat profile - shoots extremely well to the wind window edge, * High stability, very slight twitchy ears (promised to be better in final production) * Superb upwind potential - goes upwind in 5 knots with the XL FlyDoor, but also in more wind with the Radical * Significantly higher turning speed than the Speed2 - Kite turns lighter, narrower and faster (Please do not expect miracles) * Less or barely noticeable backstall; well balanced * Greater Depowerrange because of TripleDepower * Lift and Hang Time is bigger through faster turning.
