Hi kiters –
This is a worthy project I thought I would share with all you wood lovers out there. I chose the Mako Freeride board since it’s a very popular board in many different conditions. It’s very curvy which made it a great challenge. :thumb:

Northwest woods are used, a stringer, partitions and a foam core. (light and strong)

You can read the complete build on the Ocean Rodeo “Kite Chat Fourm”.

I second Kaito's comments... Ray Charles would like to stroke it.

Well done.

Wow that is very cool! :thumb:

Are you planning on riding it? I would be afraid to ride something that nice.

How many hours do you have into it?

Beautiful boards!

How's the durability and weight?

What type of wood do you use and what do you seal it with?

Thanks alot!
Are you planning on riding it? I would be afraid to ride something that nice.
How many hours do you have into it?
Hell yes! Not afraid at all…my wood kitesurf boards are in excellent shape after hard riding all summer. My polyester buddies have heel and compression dents all over top & bottom.
I have enough hours to make money at it.
How's the durability and weight?

What type of wood do you use and what do you seal it with?
She's light and strong. Durability is the same as my other boards, as I have a routine now in regards to design and construction. Northwest woods are used; such as Western Red Cedar, Spruce and Fir. Epoxy resins and a glassing schedule, followed by a hot coat and finishing.

Bottom first hot coat.

John,

That is a sweet looking Mako shape, I'm courious to see it with fins and pads and straps and what the finished weight will be.
It doesn't look like you have any inserts installed up to this point. Are you making these available for sale, if so how much.
Very Nice....
