After watching the video of Eddy Lansink getting high with a Flysurfer 8m² Psycho4 I wondered how 'high' you can possibly get!

I like the fact that you left the second botched jump in the video.

It's a great demonstration of SRR (Safety Release Reflex).
After a messed up landing in such powered up conditions its the safe thing to do.

Does anyone know if Eddy Relaunched or did he come back in.
I've relaunched many times after releasing the safety (mainly practicing), but not in such strong conditions.

The Psycho 4 is a jumping machine thanks to the variable shape... from more c-shaped to flatter.
Basicly you send it when it's more c-shaped and then turn it flatter for float and lift.

Some massive air..big props for that! Something doesn't look quite right the way the kite started to drift back when he overflew it. About 1:19 when it pitched right up, drifted back and almost looked like it backstalled a bit... Maybe he was thinking the same thing and figured it was good to pull the release right there, haha. Some crazy airs and good flying though... can tell he knows what he's doing!

that is some hairy riding and big boosting no doubt.
But to think about estimating height, also think about angles.
Camera lens effect often makes jumps look bigger -wide angle lens exaggerates the height, and telephoto lens flattens the picture hiding the fact that the rider is often approaching at an angle, not moving parallel as it can appear.
For example IF this guy was approaching shore at 45 angle, and accelerates to 40kmh during the boost, he WOULD have travelled 39m and be 28m closer to shore at the apex than at takeoff. If the speed was only 30kmh, he would still apex 21m closer to shore....
Being closer or coming closer makes it looks way higher, to the brain and also to the camera.

Not that it isn't an awesome high jump.
But the geometry needs to go into 3d, and consider time and camera lens as well, to estimate height.

I don't care about how high it is...more than high enough...in front of some gnarly looking clouds...good job.

hell of a jump, whether it is 40 feet or 50 or whatever.
I guess I should shut it though, I know I never jump more than 1/2 that to say nothing of the hangtime...

Eddy Lansink reports on a local forum he didn't have the DD in, the second jump was to clear some windsurfer, bit of an emergency escape jump. After landing that the CL got loose and the kite was on 5th. No damage.
Before anyone starts, the thunder in the end of the clip was the first of that day, and within a minute or so everybody left the water.

nooo it's all good. There is a lot of overestmating jumoing heights...just talk to just about anyone coming out of the water...all stoked they think they've jumped 30 feet...the onlookers it is closer to 15 ft. I think we're all doing this to some extent.

Incredible, absouletly amazing

I doubt the kite had much to do with it as much as the amazing piloting skills at hand. Looks like pretty extreme conditions and turned out positive. Defintely a reminder of why we got in this amazing sport. Way to kill it dude
