I admit it--I'm bored. Having been raised Catholic, I'm familiar with confessing sins, so here are my safety (and other) sins as a kite addict:

Father RickI, forgive me for I have sinned.

I've gone kiting by myself on a remote inland lake, on questionable ice, with no one around anywhere.

I've hot-launched a kite on the beach in on-shore, gusty winds just upwind of trees, buildings, and other hard objects because I was in a hurry to get out on the water.

I've not checked my gear for weak spots in the last 20 times I've been kiting.

I've not tested my QR in the last year.

I kited in below freezing conditions (for an hour) while my CL and QR turned into a solid block of ice.

I typically exceed the posted speed limit by more than a reasonable amount while driving to my favorite launch site.

I've been the subject of several calls to emergency services while kiting (though I was never really in trouble--the bystanders on the beach thought I was because I was in 35 degree water for a half-hour while waiting for the wind to pick up).

These are all my sins (that I can think of) since my last (windsurfing) confession.

Glad to get those off my chest. I feel fortunate that none of my sins has resulted in bodily injury or equipment damage.

Anybody else care to confess?

Don

I smoked some medicinal plants before and after kiting.
I shared with other kiters but they had no prescription, I sinned.

Is it a sin to choose being on the bottom so you can easily look out the window see if the wind is blowing in the trees?

I'll only confess my last 2 weeks sins.... otherwise theres too many to list.

kiting over powered my 15m in 22 knots. not bothering to hook my leash up to the safety, even though the leash is dangling attached to my harness. doing monster jumps to close to shore and landing on the beach ( same 15m, 22knot no safety overpowered day).

I did the same...once out of the Hospital, my son feet touched the sand to "get the feeling".
I told my wife that sea air is good for babies.... is that too bad ???

I'm a third! guilty!

My wife is due this week or next and I'm thinking maybe the baby can wait until next week..... This weekend will be another "double header" again (paramotor in the morning then on the way home stop and bust out the kites). Baby needs to wait these are too good to miss  Then you start wondering what is acceptable and hemmmmm what can i get away with

forgive me father :thumb:

The day we brought my third child home from the hospital, my wife was sleeping, our new baby was sleeping and we hired an au pair to help with my 2 and 3 year old for the next year. There was really nothing for me to do, so, I went out for a session. My wife is very easy going about these sort of things. I chose well
