Hi,
I will make a 2 week stop over on Tahiti on my way back from New Zealand in February.
Does anybody know if there is kite school/travel agent that offers kitesurfing tours around the islands or anything in that direction?
Also some input on which spots are the once that are the real “must been there” would be very welcome. As well as information on cheap backpacker style accommodations.
All help much appreciated!
Thanks
Ulli

Been there a while ago. No wind, black (hot) sand, huge waves at some areas, no waves at others. But again no kitable winds when I was there.
I was also in Morea. White sand, no waves and no wind...
That was in December/January.
Cheers

February is not the windy season for Tahiti. I went at the end of Feb. begining of March. It's hot and humid and not much wind. We did get out a few times in light wind with a 17.5 machine. We didn't even bother with the island of Tahiti. We got about 5 sessions in the two weeks we were there, we went to all the society islands. Most were very light and only good for site see'ing. We did get one really good one. The most beautiful place I've kited. Bora Bora was the best, we kited at the beach south west of the airport. Not a spot for beginners there's lots of un expected coral heads that pop up. It can be epic but there's no way to plan to get it you just have to get lucky, espeacially during the months you'll be there. Amazingly beautiful.
Give it a shot you may get lucky.
