tell him to get a hifi. just so happens i have a 12m 2009 hifi for sale inside of his budget. in great condition.
i found the havoc bar pressure really light and a bit wierd. i think the new ones are better on this front but for 600$ you wont be gettin a 2010 kite.
HIFI is the LF kite for c kite fans.

Havoc is a hybrid with C feeling, but if your friend like C kites, HiFi or better HiFi COMP is the way to go!

No, flying 09 12m2 HiFi side by side with 09 12m2 Havoc, they feel very close, just Havoc have more depower and it's a bit slower, HiFi have 5th line direct feeling. Havoc have open C canopy, C feeling, BUT it's SLE hybrid
HiFi COMP is a different story, it's a high depower true C kite

The session feels more C-like than the Havoc. The Havoc has zero bar pressure and is impossible to tell where it is in the sky. The session has more bar pressure and feels more direct in steering input. There is also a bridle mod to make the steering lines direct.

I think you're talking about 2008?

the 2009/2010 havoc had quite a bit more bar pressure. get a hifi comp or a hifi. he will love it. you should be able to find one for $600 or less used.

in fact, you can get a 2009 Hifi off the LF website for $629 new!!

although, i would recommend the hifi comp. it is a sick sick sick kite.

I have a 2008 Session and it turns and feels somewhat C-like. It turns around the wingtip like a C and sits back in the window like a C. I tried the 2009 Havoc and didn't like it at all. It had zero bar pressure and absolutely no positional feedback. I crashed it a few times because it was turning and I couldn't feel it. I guess some people like that but I learned on C's and really like bar pressure and feedback.

^^^^ in other words; all LF kites are good and progessive. I have two 09 sessions and love them both. I had an 08 session and like the 09s better.
I would pick him up a hifi comp direct from LF. They are ridiculously cheap right now
