Hi,

I haven't seen any reviews yet and was just wondering if anyone who has one could comment.

Thanks,

Ed

There's one review here:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2361373

The kite looks like the '06, and has been designed to fly very much like it. From this review it looks like it's the case. The first gen Sonic was a fantastic kite to fly, specially the 8, except it was not bombproof and somehow prone to losing its shape when abused.
The later models definitely resolved those points, but IMHO lost some of the original flying characteristics in the process. Didn't matter, as the Trix got introduced then, and kept me happy ever since.

The Kiteboarder magazine - Designer’s Corner: Globe Sonic 2010

From the article -
The new GKVDelta shape is more like a high aspect ratio delta,
closer to the original ‘06 Sonic and faster then the ‘09 Vsonic, as the central profile is shorter.
By adjusting the A-KPO bridle to F4/F5, riders will have the same performance and feeling as the original Sonic ‘06,
but will be able to use the A-KPO bridle for more bar pressure and reactivity. Mat said the Vsonic 2010 is for sure is a
mix of the most efficient parts of design from the GKSonic history, combined in one kite.

I wrote something about the differences in those kites, that was for the small ones, and from last year's but this transposes to the bigger sizes too, and very likely to the 2010 models, despite not having tried the new Sonics myself.

Both kites are built with the same durability from what I can tell. The sonic will give you more upwind pull and flys at the edge of the window. It is a pull the bar in and pull you up jumper.
The trix gives more of a downwind tug and flys further back in the window. For me, I like the way the trix pulls and stays in front of me.
If you like jumping and flying and will sail in light winds go sonic. If you like going fast and getting loaded, go trix.
I think if I were still sailing in Florida, a good quiver would be 7; 9 trix and 11 sonic.
Good luck. I am sure Dave will steer you right if you talk with him.

Yes a good combination to conclude with a 17m² and a Wing.
