I've had two kiteboards.... a nobile 555 and a WLF 140. I Decided that I wanted something different so I went out and got a SST Slingshot surfboard 6'2" and I've found that I haven't really gotten around to riding it much. I feel like it's not really that fun because I'm not huge on waves and found it awkward to ride and turn.
Now I'm looking to get something new and different. I'd like to get something that I could ride in lighter winds.
I was looking at the Nobile skim board and the new SS Arcane.
The skim board looks like ALOT of fun but I'm afraid it will SUCK in chop.
The Arcane looks cool and I feel like it will be easier to turn and control but I've heard horrible things about it.
What other options are there out there... I guess I could get a bigger TT for riding in semi marginal conditions. Maybe a 138 or something like that (I ride a 131 NOBILE) then I could deal with staying on the same kite and not blowing up a larger one.
Sorry for all the rambling.. hopefully some of you guys have some input and experieces that can help in the direction I should go.
Favorite Beaches: kite beach Maui, Isle of Palms South Carolina, South Padre Island Texas, Punta San Carlos Baja Mexico., pak nam pran Thailand...and a secret spot!
Style: kiteloops, unhooked,wavenostraps
Gear: North Vegas,Eclipse Thruster kites, 2007 naish thorn board or strapless surfboard
Brand Affiliation: None, mutt quiver and duct tape
I would personally go for the MP 44 with the attachment that allows you to shoot around corners....or go cheap and just get an AK! lol. or even a better idea...make a nice plywood skimmer, slap some house paint on it and wax the deck....make it big so it will kill any crappy production board upwind
Bav,
You are definitely on the right track in considering the Nobile skimboard as a "FUN" light wind weapon. What makes the Nobile skimboard a fun light wind option is that it is easy to use, goes upwind extremely well, planes really early, has plenty of traction, can be used in almost any conditions, and is simple to tack/ gybe.
