Kaoshiung taiwan in may?

Postby loeuftok » Wed May 12, 2010 4:06 am

Are there any kiters in kaoshiung that can tell me what are the wind condition in may?

I got a contract for one month over there and I am wondering if I take any gear with me or not...

Thanks for your advices and hope to meet you on the beach.

Ps what will be the best spot to ride over there?

Wish I can join you in Taiwan!
Best wind is on the North West Coast - Guan Yin is where most Kiteboarders go.
It's close to Taipei so you'll have to take the Highspeed train to the North [Very easy]
All the public transport are Cheap and reliable, only problem is the language - Maybe you can speak, read and write Chinese [that'll help a lot] or else ask around, the people are very helpful [if they can understand]
Salun beach at Danshui, is a good spot during May - summer winds.
Try to contact Kevin at: +886288666281[Off] +886932922090[Mobile] or www.kite4fun.com
Nico at: www.nicowsf.com - he has a shop very close to Guan Yin beach
Hank runs a Shop at 'Goldenbeach [Tainan] - South west Taiwan - www.tkc.com
Hope you enjoy

Kaohsiung = not much wind anytime
May = monsoon switch from Nort East to South West
Result = take up stamp collecting. Then move to Taipei in June

ok thanks guys...
I will not bother carrying a quiver bag then.
I have to be on an engineering job for about a month in Kaoshiung, working 6 days/week on night shift.

so I will not have the possibility to go to taipei (no time enough) and if the chance of getting wind in kaoshiung are that remote, I will not take the chance of paying any extra weight for gear that I will probably not use...
