it is annoying for sure. But if you can afford it dont even disconnect your lines from your kite. I now have a bar for every kite and dont mess with the connections anymore. G

btw not a single bar is matching the kite manufacturer.

Silly idea and not hard to do. In fact Ocean Rodeo have it, not sure if others do and whether it's deliberate or not but it works. Their kook proof connectors have a knot at one end and a loop the other. Not difficult to turn them around and use them the other way round if you wanted to use the bar on another kite

Woody, this is exactly my point. I have a bar for each kite and never take my lines off.
But when I demo a kite, the incompatiblility of the connectors is a hassle.

More than that, I see a significant number of kiters that use a mismatched brand or custom bar.
A universal kook proof standard would be easier and safer for all. WW

Just because someone is a kook does not mean they should have to risk injury or death to go kiteboarding.

It would cost nothing for manufacturers to standardise on a connection system using standard colours and knot/loop configurations.

In the meantime, it is easy to make adapters for pig tails to standardise your own gear.

I'm in favour of standardization too. But I'd still rather use the same manufacturer for kite and bar ...

... imagine The Kook using a bar with S.F.A. depower on a kite like a Cabrinha that wants the long depower throw for the safety. Could be messy!

Here is yet another thread about the problems of swapping bars and kites:
Post subject: Re: Pigtails -how to convert loops to knots and vice versa?

Kite Manufacturers- All you have to do is agree to put red left and blue right.
Then agree to put larksheads on the outside lines and multiple knots on the wing tips.
This is the smart standard that you should all agree to.

Here's any example of a 2012 Slingshot wing tip attachment that caused a non injury accident.
A kiter disconnected the blue line at the kite pigtail.lines and then reconnected it all wrong.
The four colors and the extra piece allowed a wrong connection and a worse kite launch.

Gray kite pigtail to.....
Blue extension to.....
Red connector to.....
Red line end to.....
White line.

(The other wingtip makes no sense either,
and swapping components doesn't fix the color mismatches.)

After building kites for how many years, why can't it be better?

you know what amused the shit out of me?

completely white lines all 4 of them? WTF?

i still see kites like this. it makes it so easy to accidentally stuff up.

have coloured lines and the problem goes away!.

why are some manufacturers still using white? saving $5.... idiots.

dead

simple use the existing standard....red left green right, or starboard if you prefer...

the unmarked ones are the fronts...they don't matter other than going on the leading edges..

hook those up first, unwrap the bar to launch position..Clear the rears as you walk back

just pull them through to clear and hook them up

trick is thinking for yourself, and not relying on some third parties crutch kooken

don't be the kook...in the first place
make your own system

Yes WTF! My slingshot bar has all white lines. I was thinking about dying them, has anyone done this? colored lines make things much easier in a tangle.

Fo's system is excellent and very safe for those of you who take your lines off....so please use it!

I made my own system to always leave lines on all kites for the past 13 years and this works for me!
