Practical help needed for FS speed 3, 19 m in NE Brazil

Postby kruzlifix » Sat Jul 17, 2010 8:54 pm

are there any experienced "flysurfer" around? :argue:

After 10 years tube-kiting I finally decided to get a Speed 3 19m for the rare occasion with almost no wind (early morning).
the only problem is that I feel a bit overwhelmed with all the lines and new high-tech adjustment thingies.....
who can show and teach me the speed 3 hints and tricks (including mixer-test)?
you have free room, board, warm water and plenty of wind (but slow internet conection)
Until the end of august I am based in Baleia / Ceara which lies about 2 hours north of Fortaleza.

Speed 3 19 Wow
You need to go to Foilzone.Com and post this message in Foils galore. You are more likely to get some takers there..lots of speed 3 people and lots of foil info..

Flysurfer has a Mixer Test Application on facebook that makes things a bit clearer as to what is happening when you are making the adjustments

And a couple of videos that are well worth watching if you want to understand it a bit better.

A couple of How to Videos

Hope that helps you out a bit

I have a speed 1 17.
For landing I usually put the kite at the edge of the window and trigger the QR (IDS/5th line).
The main reason is: normal kiter do not know how to land/grap a Flysurfer.
It is therefore saffer to land on your own using the QR.

"normal kiter do not know how to land/grap a Flysurfer." ??

... come on, man - they won't know until you tell them how.
I have the same kite as you do, Feng, and I simply tell them "just grab the wingtip, pull it to the ground, and put sand on it" .... meanwhile I quickly disconnect the chicken loop & leash and run over to put more sand on the kite and thank the lander.

This explanation works even on oblivious beach goers who have nothing to do with kites.
Concerning the actual manoeuvre itself, it it actually simpler for someone to understand and execute a landing this way (grab, pull to ground) as opposed to a 'normal' kite (grab, get a hold of middle LE and turn the kite wile you put it to the ground)

The more you avoid self-landing the FS the less tangles you'll have.
