Ozone C4 wind range

Postby davince » Wed Oct 20, 2010 10:02 am

Hi,

I am considering the C4 but what to expect from the C4 wind range?

Could anyone compare the wind range of a C4 with an Instinct Sport (I have the instinct sport 2007 in 9 and 13m3)?

There are many positive comments on the C4 high end. Good.
But what about the low end? I'd like user's feedback (I have seen ozone's wind charts).

Would help to pick the suitable sizes.

And should I expect some family resemblance with the instinct (2007)?

Thanks.

IMO the C4 wind range is different-
Those "OLD" kites were a bit stronger on low end, but turning speed was slower as well.
they remind me more of Catalist, & not C4, which is an open C-shape.
The high range of the 9 is very very high, was riding & going unhooked with it on 30 k.

awesome kites.

The 2010 C4 low end could be better, but it is not terrible. That is one of the things they improved with the 2011 C4. They increased the low end for 2011.

I have had all the previous years instinct and mostly went with the 13 and 9m combo which worked great and I never found a gap between them.

Then I went for 13 and 9 C4 and did seem to lack some low end in the 9 where the previous Instinct sports would be pulling well. So now I got 13 11 9 and also 7 !

Its true the low end is not as great as previous years but it is by no means bad. The high end is great on them (35knots can be comfortable on 9m) but I if I had to remake my choice again I may go 13 and 10.

Or how about 17m Zyphr and 11m C4 ? All the low end you could want then an amazing 11m freestyle machine! The 11 is by far my favorite kite and since I got it, I fly this one the most of them all.

Try get some demos but if not do consider replacing a 9 for a 10m. Or consider a skim board for low low wind session or directional.

Thanks to all and in particular to markmcir. A direct comparison is really helpful

I am not a big fan of having a large quiver but I think I may go for 3 kites. Zephyr &12m & 9m C4. Although, by adding an 8m2 C4 for 2011, Ozone has made my life more tricky (such a luxury problem, snifff...).
So,will it be Zephyr 17 and C4 12&9, or C4 11&8 or C4 12&8?
I think the first one. Although lately we had nuking winds and I missed a small kite (7 or 8?).

My weight is 98kg (220lb), 1,98m and 135/42 board.

Hi , I had the catalyst, together with a Zephyr, I have 82 kg,
My range was Zephry..followed by a 12 , 8, 6...
This year it will be Zephyr, C4 or catalyst 12 8 6....
I had a good time on my Sector 60 free race board ( directional with 4 fins 174 X 60) with the 12m C4 in lightwinds like maximum 9 knots...While a german guy was on his Flysurfer 21m :baeh2:
and a DOOR, he could not believe I only had 12m on ...due to the fast kite, I had a lot of fun!
Just my 2 cent

I have been using a 13 and a 10 all summer and these two kites cover me for almost all days. The 13 C4 will not have as much low end as the sport but you will love it. Add a bigger board or a zephyr for those light wind days and you should be set. It is rare I feel the need to pull my 7 out anymore. The 10 can be flown in very high winds comfortably.

I weigh about 80 Kg and I'm looking to get a C4, but I'm a bit confused about what size I should get. This will be my small size(all around kite). Should I get a 9M or a 10M?

I didn't notice any real difference in wind range. The depower throw is a bit shorter than some kites but the overall wind range seems about the same to me as any other kite i've ridden
