GoPro Chest Mount

Postby Pippi langsamer » Fri Nov 12, 2010 9:33 am

Can anyone give idea as to what kind of images the camera gives from a chest mounted position? Is the wide angle wide enough to still get some downward/ forward imagery

It would seem a very unobtrusive way to mount the cam and maybe saves fiddly board/ line mounts.

Any footage or feedback of the chest mount?

Might be too low for a waist harness, although someone mentioned you can adjust the straps and move them up ...

I have it and found gives a good image only if you adjust it as high as possible, and use it on resolution 4. If you choose the highest quality (HD), the angle doesn´t give a good view.

It is just my cents.

Cool- that angle doesn't look too bad at all :D

SuRff- was that taken at full HD resolution, or dropped to 4 as mocolombo suggests?

Thanks.

Be careful when you crash hard with the chest mount - it's made out of a material that stretches and the camera hit me in the lip the first time I hit the water hard.

It was shot @ r5 @ 30fps. I took a screengrab which I then cropped and resized. (I think.. can't find the footage).

Took the whole gopro kit downwinding in my backpack and got smashed so hard by a wave lip that my backpack blew open and I lost the chest and headmount. Got one use out of it... That shit should float. Luckly my $500 phone was in a waterproof bag that did float. Don't ask me how I managed to get all the crap that floated back into my backpack and zip it up with numb fingers from the cold and not get washed or loop the kite. The things you do to get a good photo/video of yourself and your friends..

Here is the first video I made of me kiting where I used the chest mount. Its alright but you see too much of the kite and not enough of what else is going on. All of the other times I filmed I used the headband mount. Its more of a hassle but better IMO

This was 720p @60fps

Further to this, can anyone confirm whether the GoPro wrist mount will fit on the central strut of a Naish Cult 7.5 or 9.0m?
