I don't think that anyone will have a problem with items 1, 3, 4 or with advancing safety. However, I don't think that a serious organization for an inherently risky sport should have the explicit goal to increase the number of participants in the sport. I understand that kiteschool owners and instructors are interested in seeing a continuous stream of beginners; but it ought not be a professional organization's goal to try to induce more people to enter the sport. The organization should not risk getting seen as a marketing tool for kiteschools, or as an organization skimming money from beginner courses. That would inevitably lead to a loss of credibility. Witness what has happened to the image of IKO (and, as another example, what has happened to the image of PADI in the professional scuba diving community).kiwimike wrote:KSA to achieve the following
1)set up and follow minimum safety guidelines
2)advance safety and grow kite boarding
3)help with getting liability insurance for schools and individuals
4) promote local events and sponsor local riders
5)implement a real global licensing system with real license cards for riders and instructors
A global licensing system is not a good idea. I assume that you were simply a bit careless with your words; but in either case "license" means an official document giving permission to do something that is otherwise prohibited (by law or by other regulation). In other words, it makes it sound like you are for government regulation of the sport. I don't think I need to tell you how bad idea that would be (for the sport, or for the image of your organization).kiwimike wrote:5)implement a real global licensing system with real license cards for riders and instructors
All excellent points, Saami.Saami wrote:I support what you are trying to do, but...
That was about time! I had problems as well with the same examinar in January 2009 on a snow course.kiwimike wrote:the examiner has been removed from all future training activities. seems i have been vindicated. i suppose an apology is out of the question.
