we could all try this out on our kites. just clamp off the struts and inflate the leading edge. The deflated struts shouldn't be too much in the way to at least get a feel for it correct?

Hello friends,
I have seen a Proto from a big company flying in the water.
They did not let me try but it seemed ok.
Could relaunch if is LE down but if it lands different the canopy will stick to the water and end of the session.
I don't really see the point! As performance will never be able to be the same of a kite with struts..
Take as an example Sail for Sailing boat or Sail for a Windsurf!!
They need the battens to stabilize the profile and perform better.

if I ever want to have a kite without bladders, then I'll buy foil kite.
RE:

To me it looks like ordinary kite with the three bladders that just are not pumped.

Dude,
I have been flying a 3 struts kite for 3 years and I was very happy.
I think 3 struts are ideal for what they are designed for!
Wainman, Ozone, RRD, now also F-One + more...

I flown a 1 strut kite and I found it very below average!!!

Now take out all the struts and you have a bed sheet behind a leading edge...
Tell me what kind of performance you can get!!!
Come on please be serious...

The kite will fly as I saw it doing it.. That's about it..
Bye Jankie

As with everything it has to be over done and the pendulum swing back to find what works best. Not that we need spend much time on no struts, but I think this post was a bit of a joke anyway. There looks to be a centre strut its just ffffffflat as the threat title alliterates. One strut, no thanks, 7 struts equally no thanks.

Same goes for how flat the kite is, the bridling, the sweep, the profile, AR and all that stuff. Even line length have been dialed into pretty tight ranges for specific applications.

3-4 struts, 4 line, med AR, simple short bridle, C shape, decent chord at the tips..... simple, stable versatile, user friendly, fast and powerful.

Its all kinda coming together where its not an extreme design that works best right now but a pretty moderate one that has no extreme parameters.

These are good times. There are a few kites out there now that fit the bill for 90% of us. There will always be a niche for the specialists, but those are the exceptions.

Who knows, there may be another big revolution in kite design, but regardless, there are a few outstanding kites out now that will always work and whatever comes next has to have a lot more than gimmick to change the market.
