Hi,

There are only 2 Registered Schools in the North of the Island.

1) The Flag Beach Kitesurf Center: www.flagbeach.com

2) Magma Kiteschool Lajares: http://www.magma-kiteschool.com/

They both teach from boats.

Not the best place to get lessons , you will be dropped in the sea far from shore with a boat but will stay with you.

Haven't heard any good on the first one, i don't recommend them.

Both are good. They run the same teaching system.

Flag Beach is going to be easier for you of you are staying in Corralejo.

You make it sound a bit negative by saying they just drop you out there. Beach Flying and theory is done on the 1st day of the course on the beach.

And being far for shore with a boat there, is something every student should be looking for, especially taking into consideration the amount of fatal accidents that have happened in the last year with beginners learning from beaches.

What would you recommend instead ?
If it looks so bad maybe we'd better try surfing or windsurfing :))))

The Flag beach based school may have changed hands and may be better than the old operators, best to wait for someone to confirm that. I can only say if it is the same peeps that have been running it for the last few years I have only read and heard bad reports about their teaching practices. There was one local girl returned home with such a badly broken shoulder she will never kite or wakeboard again, I have spoken to people who have been over a period of years and the well advertised safety boat was always in for repair? either very slow engineers or bull$hit advertising. Fuerte is great for experienced kiters but IMHO not the best place to learn for a few reasons. If there are new owners at Flag it may be a different story. My own story from Flag is experiencing a wind direction change and drop off, kite down is surf to the south end of Flag, not one member of the school attempted to help, no surfers or boogie boarders did anything but shout abuse when in the swell being dragged towards shore and only sunbathers helped when I was being tossed around the volcanic rock reef near the shore, the kite and my legs were shredded, I would never use that beach again.

i can say for a fact that no student at flag beach has broken a shoulder in the last 2.5 years, and in fact other then minor cuts there have been no injuries.

I'm not too sure what is happening with Magma in march, i think they are all back then but the lucky b.... are on holiday at the moment.
