Switch Method vs Wainman

Postby syuzhak » Wed Jul 27, 2011 1:52 am

I've been looking at these two kites for mainly waveriding and some wakestyle. Specifically in the 7m and 9m size. Has anybody been able to compare these back to back?

Im looking for lowend, unhooking, and drift performance.

Thanks!

Having owned both, I would strongly recommend the Rabbit kites over the Methods.
But I like my Epic Renegades better than the Rabbits.
PM me and I would be willing to share much more detail about all three, I will get much less flack that way.

i only own a 12M Method, but all the Rabbits. IMO, the 2 kites are not comparable. The Rabbits are excellent all-around kites. The Method is quite possibly the worst kite i've ever flown. In fairness to Switch, I've heard others say the 12M is not indicative of all the other sizes, and some seem to be happier with the smaller sizes (others have agreed with me on all sizes). My Method doesn't jump at all, and the bar pressure is painfully high, and it has a tiny wind range (17-20 mph is it's comfort zone). For wave sailing only, it can be an OK kite, though damaging to my shoulders with all that bar pressure.

So someone asks the question, Wainman or Switch. And what does Old and Broken come out with? Oh yes, what a surprise he's suggesting an Epic kite.

Very classy, very predictable. No wonder the Epic brand has no credibility.

Kevin, calm down.

If you had followed OldNBroken's post over the time (which you didn't because you havn't been long enough on the forum obviously), you would see that he has flown very many kites over the years, that he has been always willing to share his impressions, and that he's not a biased guy.
He is just very convinced of the qualities of his current renegade, that's all.

So relax a bit and do your research before hitting people on this forum who have contributed much more than yourself.

Aloha Mede. I re read my post. I don't see where I am anything other than calm.

Old and Broken has chosen to hijack a post about two kites not related to Epic, he cannot help himself. I pointed out that it was not very classy and very predictable. Did the OP want to know about Epic? Did he ask for a comparison? Surely if the OP wanted to know about Epic he could have gone through the 90+ pages of shit and biased reviews on the main Epic thread?

Oh and your comment about not being biased? Really, you can't honestly believe that can you? The last thing you'll ever get from him is an unbiased comment.

Let's try and keep non Epic threads just that, if you can help yourself Old and Broken?

I have owned both of the kite models in question.
I owned a Switch Method 7M and also Switch Nitros 8M and 12M.
I owned a Wainman Rabbit 12M, and a friend flys the Rabbit 9M and 15M and I have flown them.
Last night I posted a full review here, describing all the attributes of the Method 7M and Rabbit 12M, ......and deleted it about a half hour later, for the very reason you see above.
I agree with Jkrug, but for the sake of not causing any pain, I re-posted with a simple strong recommendation of the Rabbit over the Method, ...and offered to give much more detail via PM.
I think that was clear enough.
The Rabbits are great kites and I like them a lot and was happy owning one.
But like always, I demoed some other kites and found a few kites I like better.
The Renegade is currently my favorite three strut all arounder, among other things it's more stable and jumps better than the Rabbit I owned.
.
.....Kevin, you need therapy :mad2:
