Destination wedding/kite trip recommendations?

Postby POACHER » Mon Aug 22, 2011 3:33 pm

Ok KF, I'm getting hitched and want to do it in style. My awesome bride-to-be wants to do a destination wedding instead of the traditional family flogging. (YES!!! :thumb: )

We have kicked around the Bahamas, Virgin Islands, or Mexico to keep it on a budget for our family and guests. Also we're thinking all inclusive so our non-kite guests and family can just chill and relax.

I would love to go someplace that is also a good kite destination.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Congratulations! When is the big date? The time of year is a big factor in picking the windy spots.

we went to cozumel mexico for a honeymoon after visiting the place for 2 years previous,... its a real good deal for a caribbean island,... checkout the Coral Princess Hotel,... if you are recourcfull enough you can catch wind from any direction. its a small island. i have only been there in february when the wind is usually light , calling for big kites! when the wind was too lite there was plenty of other things to do ,... so far i had visited the joint six yrs in a row,.. very worth the visit iffyou choosit be sure to look up Raul, Adrian, or (and especially) Paco Chan!

please wear your avatar mask at the wedding!!!! hehehe.

Also it would be rude not to go for a kitesurf directly before and after the wedding. You have to set the ground rules for priority now before its too later.

Here's my marrage advice

A man marries a woman hoping she wont change but she does.
A woman marries a man hoping she can change him but she can't.

If you put a jellybean in a jar every time you Do it before marrage then start taking one out every time after marrage. You will never empty the jar! this can also be true for kitesurfing.

Stock pile as many toys as possible before babies arrive. Once you have half the income and twice the expences there'll be no more flash new kites!

@ Vin - Yeah I've been to Cozumel once and rode with Adrian. He's a good guy! I did meet Paco as well. I thought Cozumel was fun. The price is right too...

@ Plummet - she's on board with me kiting. Our test trip was this spring to the Bahamas. She did fine. We had a blast. There's enough down time when it's not windy or evenings to spend the quality time. She's a catch for sure.

Yeah Key West is on the table. It would be a lot easier for friends/family to get there without the passport BS.

I'm down for whatever really. I'll just be stoked to finally call this girl my wife, get the F' out of the Midworst in March and just relax with friends/fam on a beach. If I get a couple kite rides in that'll just be icing on the cake.
