This new video is about using the RENEGADE 13 ltd on 15 meter lines and the RENEGADE 11 on the 22 meter lines during a big swell in the ocean.
The wind was between 11 and 15 knots max with a strong current. We were doing a down winder on our surf boards in order to be able to catch all the good surf breaks on the beach.
Enjoy the video.

This is a new video of the INFINITY V2. It was filmed here on the Outer Banks NC (USA), two days ago (September 30th). Lots of people from different part of the world where here in Nags Head because they could not get down to Waves/Salvo/Avon due to the damage the Hurricane did to these places. So most of them end up here. Which was perfect because they all saw the performance the INFINITY v2.
I think these video says it all...

Enjoy it. :thumb:

dimitri,

i was in OBX last week and was there at Jockeys Ridge to witness your kite, looked pretty good.

what was unimpressive was how reckless you were riding around others on the water. Spraying/ buzzing others and riding across lines is riding too close for comfort and sets a bad example.

I should have mentioned this at the time but wasn't able to.

When back in the OBX someday I'd love to try one of your kites if you get one dialed on 5 line control system that behaves like an SLE.

(edited to reflect a more appropriate tone)

I am sorry "kylek" (Kyle Krawiec), but obviously you have a major problem with me and EPIC kites. I am sorry you feel that way, but I am here to help people enjoy the passion of this sport. I am very surprised by your post. I don't understand what are you saying!!! Few other riders asked if they could use my access so they can launch their Jet Skis so they can teach their students, and every body was very happy. They all loved the kites and that day had at least 6 people asking how much the INFINITY is and 2 dealers bought an INFINITY that same day because they could not believe the performance of the kite. From my understanding you own a school and teach mostly on North. And it seems like since you are pushing other brands you may of had a problem with EPIC from the beginning. Also since you said "you've heard stories" I guess you had an agenda from the beginning. Maybe this is the reason why you are posting such an negative post against me and EPIC. This is another post I got from some one who posted on "THE KITEBOARDER mag" web site: http://www.thekiteboarder.com/2011/10/e ... ramenides/
So something is not right in your statement. I am just here to help kiters with anything they need.
Again I am sorry if I splashed you. I was over powered that day on the INFINITY in 13 knots and was trying to stay off the beach since it was blowing on shore. I did not mean to get you wet.
Also concerning the 1:32 video above, if any one checks the video they will see that I am far away from you. Again if that was a problem I am sorry.

My Session with Dimitri Maramenides
October 3, 2011

It’s a pretty cool experience when you live on the Outer Banks and get to watch Dimitri Miramenides kite on his home turf. As Scott and I arrived to JR, it was blowing almost 20 knots! YEY! 7M time! While I was pumping my kite, Dimitri shows up and is pumping right next to me. Scott says, “There’s Dimitri sneaking in. He’ll be up and riding before you even have your lines on.” He was right. I had just run my lines out and was attaching the first one when Dimitri yells ‘Can I get a launch?”

I launched him, and thought, wow, I am so lucky to live here and get to watch one of the best guys in this sport kite right here. He is incredible. He is so fun to watch, I had to get my phone out and try and get pics of his huge airs before I even finished setting up my gear. He will bust maneuvers you only see in videos! He finished some killer tricks, then he came closer to shore and said ‘Erin, come try this kite!’

With slight apprehension I went over to Dimitri and said ‘you know I am just a beginner, right?’ He assured me it would be fine. He had a 10M screamer with a much smaller board than I had ever been on. Scott was running back to the parking lot to get another kite, so I couldn’t ask if this was too big for me. Before I knew it, Dimitri had me clipped in and was showing me the depower straps. I depowered all the way and was still powered up.

I dove the kite the smallest dive and was up and riding instantly. I was overpowered for sure, but I wasn’t scared. It was actually really fun! I had never gone that fast before. I was cruising so fast, and I actually found proper body position with my hips out and was able to edge the board better than ever. I went to tack back to shore and did ok. I think I caught my heel edge and took a crash, but managed to recover quickly and get the board back on with no struggle. The Screamer was a super fun kite, and its amazing how much better I was doing with newer EPIC gear.

As I looked near the shore, I saw these three guys with a trainer kite taking up a huge water area right where I wanted to head back to. This was not good. I tacked back out hoping to try and avoid these guys on the next tack. No luck. I got closer to shore and saw Dimitri running down the beach. He took the kite from me so I didn’t hae to walk upwind and told me that someone was pumping up the 7M Epic Renegade for me. How cool is that! I feel like I have some kite caddies on the beach. A girl could get used to that!

I jogged down the beach and I saw my friend Billy. He was stoked to see me on Dimitri’s 10M. He said I did really good, and I was super excited because of how fun those tacks were. I got over to Scott who told me he’d launch me on the 7M Epic he had ready to go. I really liked the bar system. Even though I had just tried it, it was cool to check out the equipment before I launched.

I got the 7M Renegade up and really liked the way it felt. I was still powered pretty good and was up and riding on my board this time. I wasn’t holding my edge very well and felt like I was skimming across the water in stead of establishing my edge. I have felt this before, but usually on a downwinder so I didn’t have to worry about staying upwind.

I still had trouble staying upwind, but wow…what a difference newer, better kites and a board make! Dimitri was great at giving me advice too. He told me I definitely had a board that was too big for me. I noticed how much easier it was to hold my edge in the water on the smaller board, so I am definitely going to make the switch. I’ll let ya’ll know how that goes…

P.S. Also you are not allowed to teach at JOCKEY'S RIDGE as a school. The park rangers will find you lots of money. So next time make sure you have a jet ski an go 400 feet a way from shore so you don't get in trouble with the Park Rangers.

I've gotten to know Dimitri a little bit over the past 6 months and he is the furthest thing from a dick! I was a complete stranger to him the first time I went to the OBX and the guy gave me and my crew 3 kites and 2 boards to demo and keep for the 4 days we were there. He even drove out of his way and brought us other kites to use one day. He went above and beyond by inviting us to his home and helping us with our stay and pointing us to the best kite spots for each days wind. We didn't even have to bring the kites back to him, he came and picked them up from us so we could stay and kite every second of wind before we had to leave and drive home.

I know for a fact that he wasn't trying to piss you off or anything. All you had to do was say somthing to him and maybe mention that you don't appreciate how close he was riding to you and I'm sure he would have been very appologetic and probably went out of his way to make it up to you. You didn't have to throw the dude on blast and call him a dick on kiteforum. You could of just sent him an email and I bet he would of said sorry and sent you a nice new epic 3G t-shirt or something. :thumb:

I see you made innerbags/extra bags for kites, but there was none with judges or did you decide not to include those for judges?

Hello "Samb0o",
You are correct the JUDGE and RENEGADE 13 did not have any "Inner Mesh bags". Then we decided to add them. So from now on all the RENEGADES, SCREAMERS, JUDGE will have an inner mesh bag inside the main bag. If you need one just email me at dimitri@epickites.com

no agenda. I was just very surprised to see an icon like yourself ride like that. thats it.

I edited my post a bit to be more family friendly, probably too strong a word to use. and to eliminate any brand bash, not necessary at all - I just associate you closely with the brand.

and y'all probably right, should have spoke up at the time but we moved down the beach instead. I wasnt planning on coming on here to flame or hate, but when I saw the vid i was reminded. bad style begets bad style.

peace, love, and chickengrease!
