Kiters have to replace worn lines...whether it's pulley or ring. Once a year or two years is not very often, for six feet of line that costs about six bucks. So it is a conspiracy to deceive you. ...really? Dimitri is trying fool his customers. Does that sound reasonable? ...or are you being a bit sensitive possibly? I will gladly send you two pulleys if it will make your day better. No need for .

Quote: Its is what makes me annoyed, not the actual wear on the lines. I don't need your help to fix this, I want you to be honest and admit that rings wear more than pulleys, don't pretend you have no idea what Im talking about There is nothing strange or different about the kite I got. Rings are safer, great, use rings, it is no big deal replacing lines once a year or whatever, but tell people what to expect. I am sorry Mr. " McAbe" but I am not going to lie to you or any one else. This is also the reason why it makes EPIC kites a superior company then any other kite company out there. Not only because of their performance or quality but also because of the way we involve all the riders to be part of the R&D " DESIGNED BY THE RIDERS FOR THE RIDERS". So once again, I am not pretending anything. All I am saying to you is that "O" Rings or Pulleys, you will still wear your lines. It is just as simple as that.

If you have to switch out bridal lines you better do some serious measuring. Any difference in length will affect the flying characteristics. I have been so fortunate. In ten years of kiting I have never had a line or pulley fail. I kite a lot. I never do much maintenance, bought pulley kites from Best, Cab, SS, eclipse and no pulley ever broke. All the guys I ride with, never had any pulley issues either. I guess we're just incredibly lucky.
Can't wait to see the ring dominate the market and show all other Brands how stupid they have been. They actually thought pulleys gave some kind of mechanical and line wearing advantage over a simple round ring! Even Mariners still use them. They are so dumb! I even think there is a pulley or two being used on the America Cup race! Idiots!

They actually thought pulleys gave a mechanical and frictionless advantage over a simple round ring! Even mariners use them! They are also dumb! I even think there is a pulley or two being used on the America Cup race! Idiots! Not only Epic, but Cabrinha, Caution and maybe others I'm not aware of yet, have decided to favor another item, with no moving parts to seize or break. Some names you mention and some you did not mention have opted for bridles with no pulleys or rings. Cabrinha and Caution started several years ago with a non pulley slider part. Pulleys covered with a mix of sand and salt and sun do not always provide a frictionless mechanical advantage. Do you not believe pulleys can fail just because it has not happened to you? Sailboats use expensive pulleys on anything that matters with your safety, not the cheapies that get spec'ed on most kite bridles. They also do not get layed in a sand bath four days a week or get regular dunkings in salt water. If you like pulleys, keep using them, but there are other valid choices now and some people choose them. Kite companies have made lots of design choices based on standard nautical parts they had laying around from their old sailing and windsufing gear. The fancy racing sailors you speak of, they have started replacing pulleys with special rings in some cases, for strength, weight advantages and reliability. Before you get all smug, you might wanna give the new piece a try. They are pretty nice. . . ...Luv ya Mo'

Oh I am not trying to be smug...
I only wish the ring had been discovered sooner! Think of the waste in the kiting and sailing industries! It boggles the mind that something so simple was right there, available at any hardware store... And yet they blew it! And those poor dumb mariners, spending tens of millions on boats that don't need these things! And poor Dmitri, getting some bad spectra line right when the O ring was switched to. It just makes me so mad at life, the unfairness!
And so I say:
Bless thee O' stainless steel ring, keep others safe from the dreaded pulley and it's cruel design!

people now days what something to last forever without making any maintenance I maintain and keep my pulleys clean so I have never had to worry about the lines, having to replace the lines is more like repairing IMO.

I will say it again, sailboats use expensive pulleys and keep them clean and out of that steady diet of sand/salt/sun combo that some kiters use to get them nice and crusty before they seize or blow. Not really the same application. And with kites it really does seem to be where you ride, and how you are with your gear. Most kite companies can keep sheeping it (bhaahaa) and follow each other in circles. I readily applaud the companies who try new things, like Caution and Ocean Rodeo, and Zeeko and Wainman and Epic! Keep up the good work Dimitri
