I can tune, fly, ride with and appreciate any type of LEI out there. The link sucked ass. It was heavy and did weird shit on you in anything but steady smooth conditions. There is no way I could get half the predictability/dependability and performance out of one as I can what I rode even back then.

sizes should be within a pretty "small" margin of error.

@ Bill Hansen

THANK YOU and Switch Kites for showing how easy it is to provide this information....AND...it really gives the kiters who want to know more about a kite's characteristics by understanding the shape of each kite before they commit to a purchase. There's no reason for other brands to treat this like it's some sort of voodoo.

Good stuff Bill,
It does show that Switch round their Combat C kite sizes down by about 0.7m² which is quite a lot. This tallied with my gut feel that the 11m Combat is at least as powerful as most 12m C kites and slightly more powerful than a 10m RPM. Interesting too that the 13m is lower aspect than the others.

Simon:
Combats are sized .5sqm larger to compensate for their lower projected area. The C13 AR is slightly lower to boost the low-end and turning speed a bit for Marc Jacobs in contest conditions.
Cheers!

you on to it Mr. Hansen. i am looking forward to demoing some combats - especially if they are somewhere between a fuel and torch on flying style/power/depower etc

As others have said; thank you Bill H for an exceptional demonstration of transparency. It surely isn't the only consideration, but I think it is helpful to know the specs on any technical product one might consider buying.

And more importantly, I don't like the idea of buying stuff from a bunch of bullshit artists playing 3 card monte. :bye:

You know what Bill I always had the highest respect for you once upon a time, even though you never quite 'stuck it' you were always in there pitching with your sail design ideas and whatever, wasn't the diesel Mk 1bridle one of your devices?

But this cheap unprofessional hijack of a thread is beneath even you and wtf, those horrendous pieces of junk you are pedalling, I can't believe you even put your name to them.

Shame on you, ranks right up there with the moment Ken Winner signed for Bic.

Total sell out.

GRF, please...
I kinda hope you are playing a little inside baseball with Hansen there, and plan on standing him a drink.
...otherwise you are just playing the Bob Costas of kitesurfing, kowtowing to the bigs and dissing everyone else from your little middleman perch.
Anyway you ought to thank Hansen and anyone else who comes here with explanations or helpful info to deflect from the silence of your sugar daddy.
Everyone is selling, but some are selling what they make, others are probably still selling links....
Anyway try wearing your sailor hat a little more often and take an interest in elevating the level of understanding amongst the punters. 8)
And don't get me wrong, I still love the SS, however they label their kites. :bye:

Oh and Ken asked me to get you to pull the Rolls around front,

That's a little unfair Graeme. The thread had evolved onto whether kite companies should publish their specs, and Bill put his out in the public domain.
The wing-tips on my 3 year old 10 RPM no longer hold their shape in the gusts and the kite gets over-powered more quickly than I think it should. I suspect this is because the bridle has stretched. Will anyone at Slingshot tell me the appropriate line lengths so I can build a new bridle? I suspect not.
